I need to find something temporary for my costume because I plan on using many of the components for my summer Ren Faire costumes.  (amazing, take off the tabards and obi, switch the sleeveless robe for a cloak, and I'm a Maiden, which helps in the price and versatility dept!)

The problem that I have is that I plan to wear a vest under the tabards to break up the color scheme of white on white linen - well, the vest is leather, so the linen slips on the leather.  I'm thinking some discrete safety pins through only the bottom layer of the tabards and the inner layer of the obi and at the shoulder of the dress should work somewhat. *crosses fingers*  That, and worse comes to worse, I'll just close my robe!  Heck, swoopy robe, big hood, glowy saber, i'm sure I'll get my point across!   :D

What else I have found, is that I have to grow comfortable in the outfit.  It's not just a matter of putting on some clothes, it's a matter of 'owning the look'.  Oh well, maybe my expectations are too high!

Velcro's good, but it you're a good stitch, that's the way. I had my aunt do it last year and it worked out awesome. Ben and I were jumping around and they stayed in place. ;)

Stitching is the best wqy to go!  Mine are sewn to the tunics on both costumes.

  Hey, it actually helps!

I do that screaming thing in the basement, or out in my yard. Between that and lightsabers, my neighbors must think i'm crazy.

I actually do the same... and would defininately do it more often if I lived in a house... especially for the lightsaber part (I'm in an apartment and the basement is common to all people living in the building).
But screaming with all my strength in a pillow feels quite good as well :D

Us Sith need no one!

As for complaints, I'm dealing with bruised knuckles, and a 8 inch welt from a lightsaber blade. can you guess what I've been doing? ;D

I have to work on the fourth of July, even though I asked for it off many times.... This will be the first year since my family started the tradition of having a grand display every 4th that I missed, we started the tradition 13 years ago, and none of us has ever not shown up, save for my grandpa who was recovering from surgery last year... It really hurts because my Grandpa and Dad handed the tradition of running the fireworks display down to me and my cousin 3 years ago..... So it sucks because I feel like I'm letting them down, and because I don't want to miss out on the one time of the year I can blow things up without being called crazy... But I can't skip work because I work at a hospital, and I know no one has my back (None of my co-workers would come in for me..), so calling in would mean turning my back on the nursing staff that depends on my to setup equipment and keep the linen flowing...
Well, off to work I go. : /

*Psyching self up.* Come on Vaughn, it's for a saber, it's for a saber, it's for a saber...
