In need of wiring tri-cree and switch help
« on: August 22, 2018, 12:30:59 PM »
Hello one and all,
It certainly has been a stupidly long-time since I was on this site but for many a good reason. Today I'm finally taking steps towards wiring a custom saber I've been mulling over for nearly 2 years, I however have a few problems.

Namely I'm hoping to get some advice/review of what will be my wiring setup so I don't futz this up, I am out of practice, but hope I've figured this out well enough.

My wiring setup is as follows:
I have a Tri-cree WWR, with the Red being my FOC, wired to a battery-holder for a 18650 lith-ion, I was thinking to use both White LEDS in this saber I was going to wire their positives to a .5 ohm resistor, leaving the red without one if that is both the safest and efficient/light brightness retaining setup.

I also have no clear idea what is the best way to wire these kind of switches pictured below for use as my power and Aux, and was hoping someone could shed some light.

If I left any crucial details out be sure to ask, and thanks in advance for any help I get.

May The Force Be With You.

If this is the wrong part of the forums to put this, or no one can or is willing to help please let me know.

They can be used as either depending on the sound card. You wire two wire to one ide of the switch (bottom 2 in your picture)

I find your arguments vague and unconvincing.

I'm creating the wire setups for eventually getting a Crystal Focus, for now I'm using a NBV4.

So if I'm understanding correctly, I can treat two of the four pegs just as I would the prongs on a regular momentary-switch, one wire leading to a peg for the positive, one for the negative? and the other two can go unused?

Do I have to bend the pegs out or is it best to leave them as-is and solder onto them?

Is my resistor setup solid or should I go with something else?

Thank you for your response.

The red needs a resistor too.

Regarding the switches, you probably could straighten the two you’re going to use but don’t overdo it.

I have always taught putting a resistor on EACH die. An extra resistor is cheaper than a new Tri Cree.

Indeed, certainly the reason why I made this post to seek review from others with more experience. So wiring the 2xWhite to a half-ohm, and a half-ohm for the red should be solid? or a half-ohm per white LED (so one for each) would be safer? I want to retain as much brightness and ensure safety/battery longevity.

The half ohm on each white will be ok. The red will need more like a 1.2 Ohm resistor

So this resistor for the red?

That’ll work.
