Conversion of my ROTJ MR
« on: August 17, 2010, 09:00:06 AM »
Hey guys

So ive being admiring everyone's V2's and finally decided i was going to paint and weather my MR 2005 ROTJ!

I havent really done much so far, just painted parts with watered down black paint, Ive also ran some ink wash over the ribbed sectioned which gives it that used look.

Im a total Novice noob whatever they call em these days when it comes to converting sabers, but i did manage to convert this one a while back to a luxeon 3 with the DIY kit supplied my Jqsabers. and it still retains its original soundboard. pictures to follow, when i find out how :)

Are you planning on replacing the control box with a clamp from the ESB Luke?...or modifying the control box to look like a clamp?

Nice job so far.

nope, you can only find them on an MR Luke ESB FX saber.

For a cheaper and easier faux clamp, you can also use an activation box from TCSS and get a graflex clamp lever and bolt it on. If I were you, I'd try and get a Pastor Jedi screen accurate lever.

Lookin pretty good.  I am also thinking of making my MR a V2.
I just haven't decided yet.  I really don't want to mess up a good lightsaber.
It is hard to take that first step.  Good job.

thanks for the advice there, and the kind  comments,  i do agree it was hard to take the 1st step into doing it, but when i look at it now, (and its nowhere near finished) it looks a lot better!
