Please Welcome the NANO BISCOTTE v3

it's not like a "huge" update, customers from everywhere have shown their support and enjoyment for this little board, including the easiness of wiring and limited setup/configuration. Though you can always shove more into a board, many customers have expressed their liking for keeping something simple as a start to not be overwhelmed by tons of settings and configuration, especially for a first saber, so we're keeping what they like.

For the newcomers, the Nano Biscotte is a real entry range sound board, a sort of replacement of the PC 1.x, but with the legacy of the Plecter boards, and of course changeable sound fonts (think saberfont.com  ;) )

The main addon is the onboard Flash on Clash Power Extender (PEx). It was not there initially to keep the board single color for beginners. Though Flash on Clash is popular for ages now, we saw this as optional, or "second stage" in the saber design, so that customer could first enjoy the board with a single colored LED then eventually move to multi-die LEDs.

I've also reworked a bit the power saving scheme which is even better now. Also, we're changing the motion sensor to a new and better one, featuring even less noise and better stability which has displayed better results against speaker rattling and excessive current (cell voltage ripple).

The demand became important for this little upgrade, so the PEx is now onboard, another time+room saver.

SPECS
- [NEW] Flash On Clashâ„¢ (FoCâ„¢) compliant using an *onboard* Power Extender

[Legacy features, copy paste from v1/v2 thread]
- 2 fonts - Long press on the activation switch when blade is off make the saber switch to the other font. Comes with Lightmeat and Darkmeat
- Improved file fetching, up to 16 GB µSD card
- Board is freakin' small : 28.5x18.5 mm
- Header friendly
- same 2W amp as my other boards
- Designed only for 1 li-ion cell
- 10 bit audio
- same sensitivity, same motion recognition configurability and quality as PC/CS/Prizm with a blade impact anti echo etc.
- clash and swing motion flow limiters
- momentary switch only
- off delay APOP
- progressive ignition / retraction (of course)
- quick on / quick off
- flicker / shimmer
- NO Aux switch
- NO R.I.C.E. (actually nothing to setup actually, in most cases)
- 1.5 to 2A led support, no horrible voltage chopper /  nor cool current regulator (sorry), just an external resistor like on a stunt (you can add a buckpuck too)
- adjustable drive to remove the resistor in some cases
- enhanced deep sleep with 0.09 mA consumption (13 months of shelf time with a 14500, 39 months with a 18650), no kill key really needed.
- changeable sound fonts, drop in support of CF/PC fonts, extra sound files are ignored.
- 8 swings / 8 clash for a perfect legacy compatibility with older fonts, power on/off, hum, no lockup, no blaster (no aux switch !)

The board wires the LED like a PEx, positive of the battery (eventually after the recharge port, if any) goes to the + of the board AND to the + of the luxeon via a power resistor
neg of the pack to the neg of the board.
L- to the luxeon neg
F pad to the FoC dice neg
2 wires to the switch (switch negative share with board negative)
2 wires to the speaker

User's Manual
To be uploaded soon, I'm working on it. Not much to say anyway, board is very similar to the v2, just a FoC wiring variants.

FAQs

PRICING: increased to 54€ to compensate for the huge part cost increase ($ vs €) and a tiny fraction for the onboard PEx.

AVAILABILITY : anytime soon, early January. Regarding TCSS, we're synchronizing at best, there will be some phase out / phase in between the different versions to ensure to keep boards in stock and avoid shortage.

Great news Erv' !

Did you also had a chance to put a soldering pad to drive an accent led that goes off when the board enters deep sleep or we still need to grab the signal from the tiny component near the SD ?

you can now safely use the DS pad on the PCB for this !

Awesome !!!
may i ask, is it more sensitive than the NB ???
for example NB vers. Igniter, the Igniter Board wins for me.

just curious :D

So awesome! Can;t wait to play around with these.

Did anyone else realise that the marking underneath the board was a slice of toast? I was looking at it thinking "thats a weird PCB trace?" and then it hit me! haha

Great update Erv. I look forward to giving this a try.

Just in time to build my daughter her first saber.

Oh what the frak!! I literally JUST bought a V2 with PEx lol. This being my first build I would love to save on space and wiring. One less piece means one less thing for me to f@#k up. I might just have to get this!! Anyone want to buy a NBv2? lol

yup, everything now goes out with "Toast Tech Inside". Not egomaniac for branding my stuff but it suits it well IMHO.
