P.S:again, Jedi Toms Yodas' blade is very stable-it does not wobble-is this the same with the maul?

Don't worry, there Lord Clueless....That Maul is bright enough to burn you retinas in the dark. Turn it off without closing your eyes first and you'll suffer temporary blindness. I don't know, but there something about them reds....it's like they got that bad guy feel to them. I always think of when Dooku ignites his against Yoda. That is the cool factor. You won't be disappointed if you get the Maul. Aside from Qui-Gon's, it's very close to a katana hilt. It's one of my primary dueling blades....besides, it as tough as nails. And heavy.

After a while, all the FXs get a little wobbly. But the Maul's tube seems to be thicker.

Thx a bunch guys!
When i talk about the wobblyness-i mean that because my anikan was wobbly from the start-not heaps but still........ :(
Jedi Toms' Yoda is like a brick to me! ;)
I'm going to research a bit more about the Maul.
My parents say that if i get a lightsaber now-i can't get a games console for a year and a half. But if i get a games console BEFORE i get the Maul-I can get the Maul in a cfew months after the console. ;D
P.S:i plan on getting an xbox 360! ;)

HAZA TO THE INNKEEPER!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

This is about 2 years ago. This is my first Darth Vader, ANH. Very orange....I'll try and locate the newer one.....I'm so happy...like a kid in a candy store! Thanks Dajo.

P.S. Aluke, Dajo emailed me before I read your post, however, thank you friend. 8)

OK, this is the Darth Vader ANH compared to a few other saber I had on the wall at the time. The Vader ESB is the 5th, while Vader ANH is the 3rd.

Here's a comparison pic of the Vader ANH 2007 and half of a Maul.

A note:  The batteries for both aren't new but they're at the same life span and yes my Maul does have blotchyness to it.  You can see that the Vader is definitely brighter.

Edit: I know they look a bit orange but they are not.  I just posted a picture of how it looks like with the brigthness setting lowered to show more of their truer colors.  YES these are my pictures.  I took these sabers out just for this.

soo..................what guys are sayin is that the Maul is not as bright as the Vader esb. :'(.
I don't know wat to get anymore:
What i want from a FFX is:
-BRIGHT blade
-Durable blade
-Nice hilt-doesn't get much fingerprints on it-(unlike my Ani ROTS >:()
-Easy to spin with-LOL-I know the Full Maul and the Battle Damaged Maul are not great for spinning-but i still want one
And last but not least
-Fells great to hold! ;)
Title: Re: Darth Maul Question!
Post by: Aluke123 on April 27, 2007, 10:09:43 PM
the maul is plenty easy to spin in staff mode. it's just when you split it that it sucks.

my vader and maul are the same brightness with no blotchyness when there are fresh batteries in both.
if the batteries aren't both fresh, it's unfair cause a AAA setup drains faster than a AA setup

the maul has a durable blade, and i don't have a fingerprint on it to date, and i've had it for almost a year now  :o

What saber would you guys reccomend?
I already have Ani ROTS ;)

If you're a Maul type of guy judging from your siggy and avatar, then I'd get the full Maul if I were you.  However if you really want a good balanced single bladed saber get the Vader either ANH or ESB which ever you perfer.

Nice Pic, Mr. BigT. ;)

Lord Clueless.....unless you were latex gloves, you're gonna get fingerprints on the saber. That is a fact of life. I'll tell you right away, you'll be happy regardless.

Do this.....

Close your eyes and empty your mind. Now which saber pops into your head?

That is what you intial want is and maybe go with that one. Remember, these sabers will always be out there. Just shop around. Rational thinking....that's why you have it.

Trust you gut, buddy. That's why it is there.

I would really appreciate that!!!!!!!!!
My friend-Vaders Apprentice, said that a guy in Queensland said to him-(he's a family friend or something) that there are force fx's in a place called toyworld. I live in NSW, so i'm not gonna drive up all that way-although i could order it from them if they have a website.
Don't know if that helps you.

P.S:When he saw them, it was like 3 years ago-so may not be there............The sabers he saw were Luke ANH/ESB and Darth Vader ANH/ESB-dont know exactly-so ask Vaders' Apprentice if you want any info.

Thx! ;D

Actually come to think of it Aluke is right with good batteries (recommended either the Energizer Lithiums or Duracell Ultras), the Maul is pretty bright.  Also Aluke is right the AAA betteries do drain faster than the AA's.  I noticed this when I would play with my Maul (just using one) and Anakin a lot and my Maul drained quicker than my Anakin.

Honestly Lord Clueless, if you want a kick butt saber get the full Maul staff if you can afford it (since it's about $200 if you get the full staff).  Having the Maul saber as an FX saber was one thing I always wished MR would do and now that they have made it I have not regretted buying it at all.  By the way here are pictures from my initial review of the Maul which did have brand new batteries in it at the time.  I will have to get some new batteries sometime and do some comparison photos of the blades.

I honestly think the Vader is brighter...

However if you want to get a saber that will impress your friends, get the full Maul again as I said if you can afford it.  It is mostly an outdoor saber unless you have tall roofs.  The saber itself is just over 7 feet long when joined and you can easily hit the roof or break something... believe me I've done that lol...

The Vader I'm sure will still impress your friends but the Maul might be more impressive...

As Morpheus would say...The choice I leave to you..

Just to add to this good, and very true response.

If you don't have any other lightsabers and your friends do not.. then i would say go for the maul.. you can split it in half and duel your friends after the initial wow factor.

Yes............My friend-Jedi Tom has a brand new Yoda, Vaders Apprentice has a Darth Vader ESB which he got for Christmas-and I have Ani ROTS.
I'm a bit dissapointed with my Ani. Since i very first got it, the blade has been wobbly, just a tad at first, but now its much more then it used to be.
I hope that the Maul is a nice sturdy blade-like Yoda ROTS, and yes I do know that all sabers get wobbly after a while-it's just that my Ani has been wobbly from the start! :(

I'm trying to decide whether to get the maul myself, according to what i have read it's got a great blade and is bright as a red saber will be. On the downside i hear it's blotchy even with good batteries. However the advantage that Christoph brings up is a good point, if it's the first saber in your friend group then you can still duel with a friend. As has been said previously, the Maul looks the most impressive blade, and this drives me to get the maul myself ^_^ I recommend you get the Maul for the 'wow' factor.

I don't know what has come over me-but............................I don't know If i should say this-(sarcastic).......................................I'm thinking of getting an Ultra Sabers Obi Wan ROTS Gaurdian Blue or Consular Green lightsaber.
It's cheaper than the Maul-I know the Maul is basically two sabers. Also, it's much brighter.

I have a few questions i want cleared first-so I'll ask in the Ultra Sabers disscussions-If i'm not completely satisfied, Maul it is-if not....................Well...................................Lets get to that later! ;D

Wish me luck!-(puts on an army helmet-LOL) ;D
