Hello all.  I'm joining up to learn more about making arudino and homebrew type guts for homemade sabers.

About 20 years ago when I was in college (man does time fly) during the prequel trilogy I got into making EL blade lightsabers without sound, and got pretty good at that.

Life got busy, but now I'm trying to make LED sabers with sound.  Mastering the sound part has so far been the hard part.

If you are specifically looking to make an Arduino based saber, the DFplayer is a nice UART controlled sound chip card with a decent amp, we use it in FX-SaberOS, STREAM, and related projects.  The system uses inexpensive common components: Arduino nano, MPU6050, and DFplayer.  It's designed to be easy to build and easy to customize.  For  my builds I usually program it up from scratch.
