Title: TFU II Starkiller Concept Saber "TFU-GM" Run DEPOSIT THREAD!!!
Post by: STARKILLER on April 05, 2014, 03:05:55 PM
Ok TFU II Fans!

The time is upon us and I promised it would be this weekend that I put up the deposit thread ^-^. We spent last night and most of today doing some final number crunching and planning and we've reached what we think, are 4 great ways to get your Starkiller TFU-GM. It was asked if we would do discounts on two hilts purchased together, and while we'd love to say "yes" to that, it didn't really work numbers wise. However, we decided to do something that would work really well. We will have a small number of the spots available, set aside for Plecter Labs PRIZM build outs! :)) This means collectors can get into the run at a lower cost, and members looking for two sabers can get one with CF/CeX and one with PRIZM, or two with PRIZM and save money that way. It was the fairest way to offer a lower price on the run without going negative ourselves. There will be two finish packages: Trailer version with black anodized emitter pieces, and Concept art version with no emitter anodizing. You may pick your choice of Brown or Black leather for either package. Weathering will be an offered upgrade for either finish. A little info: The concept art shows a non anodized emitter section with a black wrap, and the trailer version shows black anodizing and a brown wrap, but we will let customers choose which they want on what package. What we will NOT do, is mix and match what anodized pieces you get. You either get it or you don't and once you choose and deposits are paid, it is FINAL.

Payments will be broken into 3 parts: Initial deposit of 25%, once machining is complete the second payment of 25%, and once complete and ready to ship, the final balance plus shipping will need to be paid in full.

What will you get with your saber? With each saber purchased, you'll get everything you need to operate it out of the box: Saber, Blade (length choice of 30, 32, 34, 36 inches with round or bullet shine through tip), charger, kill key, and custom stand. That's a FULL package deal :o! RICE Cables, extra blades, weathering etc will be add ons. We will have a GREAT soundfont and boot package just like with our other runs.

Pricing:

This run is open WORLD WIDE, we will ONLY ship insured and shipping will be calculated at the time of completion.

Crystal Focus Pricing: $1600USD for CONCEPT/Non-anodized - $1650USD for TRAILER/Anodized - Deposit of $400

Weathering is $45USD, RICE Cables $10

Our 'Goal' is to start shipping completed hilts by the end of the year. Hopefully this time frame works out, as we want EVERYONE to have their sabers in time for CVII! ^-^

FAQ:

Can I get such and such piece anodized but not this and that piece? No.

Can I get a 33 and 3/8th's inch blade? No.

I already have a blade and charger, can you deduct that from the price? No.

Can you put this and that font on instead of the package font? No, and each font will be pre-configured with set colors on each of the banks. Sorry, but the custom color configs on each font with flash colors etc like we offered on the last run, was just too much for me to handle

Will you be offering other soundboards? No.

Will you be offering empties? No.

Can I get purple leather? No....although LUMINARA would probably like that :))

Can I duel with this saber? Yes, all VV sabers are made Duel worthy, regardless of aspersions that our hilts are "Shelf Queens" ::)

Can I get a Trans-White blade instead? If you prefer Trans-White we will substitute it for $5USD upgrade.

Can I choose my hilt number? No. Hilt numbering is assigned at random.

If I run into financial difficulties, can I sell my spot? Yes, but you need to contact us FIRST before putting the spot up for sale.

Due to the sensitive nature of this run, and as things are finalized like the reveal core we will be holding onto the final design renders for a little bit. With the official art we had access to, and the changes made to the original design, plus a few surprises ;D, we are REALLY excited to share everything very soon :D. We will be posting all details in the thread soon so bear with us 8).

I'm in for a pair.

For me: CF/Trailer Anodized/brown leather/34 bullet shine thru/weathering x2

"We will have a GREAT soundfont and boot package just like with our other runs."

This probably will come as no surprise, but I'll be making a significant contribution to the font package.  Since 'Erv decided to release the awesome CF7 with TWELVE font banks I've got some work to do :P

The left or right is relative since it depends on how you look at it.  FTR, It is on the left if you are looking at it from the emitter side.  It is on the right if you are looking at the red button.  Just like it is in the artwork.

You know that at Vader's Vault we believe in functional boxes.  I do not want to give to much away at this point, but the box cannot be moved as it is integral to the design.

This is the first of the concept starkillers the first two were of the in game hilt. If I'm not mistaken of course

Our first two "Starkiller" runs were of the in game hilt for the First game: The Force unleashed.

This saber is from the concept trailer for The Force Unleashed 2. Different saber, but really cool and is requested more than the in game hilt for TFU II.

The pictures posted show the differences.  There were a few concept art pieces released that show the hilts with no black anodized parts but with a black leather wrap.

Then the TUFII trailer videos that were released show more detail with black anodized parts and brown leather wrap on the hilts.  So its personal preference as to which you want.  It will look awesome no matter which is chosen.

Will choosing a Prizm build over the CF build effect any of the features in the Crystal Chamber?

If not, I am dowm for a Prizm / Trailer / Black leather / 30" bullet tip

With PRIZM, you will lose the pulsing crystal chamber.....which I know you like ;) We haven't fleshed out the entirety of the crystal chamber lighting yet, but the CF is capable of having more blinkies and we do plan on using as much of them as possible.

When you are shelling out this much on a saber it makes sense to go with the CF option. A $200 upgrade to a CF is a steal when you consider the price of the board, CEx and the install fees that are typical for a CF. Thats a $400+ value for $200. Its really like getting a CFv7 CEX color-changing upgrade + tuning and color configs for half off, all things considered. Also, the recent advances in tech have pushed the CFv7 quite a bit further away from a board like PRIZM. 12 fonts, combos, spins, stabs... there is just so much more to get out of a CF that it makes sense given the price!

Furthermore, this is a really exclusive hilt. I would only want the best electronics in mine. PRIZM is awesome, but I don't think I would pay $1400 for a saber with a color-changing PC when I could get top of the line sound with considerably more fonts/features for $200 more. Going with CF just makes the most sense with these numbers and with a run of this calibre, IMO. If I was able to get in then I would sock away $25 extra a month and that would pay for the CF trim level by the time final payment is due. I can see the affordability of saving $400 on a pair, but at the same time is $400 that hefty when you are committing to spending almost $3000 on a pair of these hilts?

Just food for thought :) I am sure that people will be more than happy with both board options when all is said and done. These are going to be really cool to see, congrats to everyone in so far and good luck to VV over the course of the run!

so would it be more logical to lower the price on the Prizm version then?
if saying what you are saying is true?

The prices are what they are, and if a particular soundboard option "doesn't get any love", oh well. People want what they want, and apparently the best sound card option is what they want. That's usually how it works out. C:-)

Prizm parts cost will be less and a little bit less wirring I assume.
200$ already seems like a steep discount, I am sure VV speant a lot of time calculating time and cost for the run.
I have only done a few but something like a crystal chamber takes some time and care.
There is no public pricing for prizm.
But of you take into consideration public pricing for pc3.
Pc3=$130

Cf7=178$
CeX=62$
240$-130$=110$ difference in sound board.

Yet they are discount the prizm version 200$!

That's pretty generous and more then likely they are doing that to allow people on a budget to buy two, like they said.

Definitely agree with FJK here. Its not that the price of the PRIZM is unfair, please don't think thats what I was trying to say or imply in my other comment. I was highlighting that at the price-points VV specified for the run it makes sense (in my opinion) to go with the CF version, all things considered :) I wouldn't say that the PRIZM pricing is unfair. When it comes down to it the board you choose isn't what determines the price. Even if these hilts were offered as stunts they would be over $1000. You are paying for the machining, design, research, and quality of workmanship that comes with VV products. The board is dollars and cents in the end if you ask me; thus why you save the option to save a bit at the end with your choice!

If you include average install costs then you see a shortening of the gap in price difference.

CFv7 ($178) + CEx ($62) + parts ($10) + install fees ($150) = $400

PRIZM (~$130) + parts ($5) + install (~$100) = $235

$400-$235 = $165 difference in cost, and a $200 discount for PRIZM - you are still getting bonus money off.

Both boards are great and are fairly priced - there is no wrong option to choose here. I think that examining the math and accounting for the overall calibre of the hilts and the nature of VV runs sheds some pretty clear light on why people are choosing CF though. The trim level isn't the bulk of the cost here, its all the aspects I mentioned above. Again, this is just my opinion and how I went about weighing the options - your mileage may vary  8)

The difference in the boards and the difference in their pricing is one of the main factors in the pricing difference. With that said, the bottom line remains, people who tend to get in on "high end" runs, also tend to want the best sound card (and other) options available for that particular run. It's always been true of the runs I've seen and participated in. It's also a principle I "follow" when I do builds for myself or the rare commission.  ;)

I was going for the Prizm at first to switch things up but then say DM post and response on the inability for a pulsing crystal chamber which is a requirement for me.  Thanks DM for the question and reminder.  I'm am intrigued by the Prizm and the ability to switch colors on the fly.  It will be in an upcoming saber of mine soon.  For now I'll stick with the power of the cf and CEX.

Yup, I was slightly tempted by the price reduction of the Prizm offering, but I want the full capabilities of the accent leds of the CF.  You don't want your Amazing Crystal Chamber to be limited by the capabilities of the soundboard.  With the CF, there are no limitations!
And who knows, by the time these are ready for install maybe Erv will have implemented the color changing features of the Prizm into the CF's  ;)  I will not be disappointed either way.

I am torn on the color of leather to use.  I am not a fan of the brown leather but I prefer the Trailer hilt which shows Brown leather.  If I decided to go with the brown instead of the black, it would have to be pretty weathered almost to the point of black like in the close up of the first picture of GM holding both of the sabers in front of his face.
So I guess my question is.... Would it be possible to get a weathered/dirty brown leather?

I believe that what you are seeing is shadow.  What I see is a dirty weathered leather with different shades brown, olive and tan tones.  There is some challenge involved in trying to simulate it :)).  It's going to be fun :D.

This is why I got two versions, I'm very happy with the black leather wrap, but knowing myself... Later, I would kick myself for not getting the brown leather wrap. Soooooooooo, the Concept saber for Christmas dualing then the Trailer Saber for New Years kick off, lol.

It will be weathered dirty brown, but it is not close to black.  It will look like it does in the Trailer pics, which is multi-toned 8).

I would immediately jump on a second one if I could afford it right now. A pair of those would be uber-epic  8)

I see.
Well as long as it will be weathered with different tones and some depth, I think I would like to change mine to brown in place of the black if I may.  Might as well stay true to the screen shots.
I also just noticed that my blade lengh choice of 30" was not one of the options listed in the OP.  Please let me know if that will be a problem.
Thanks.

Totally agree.  Bayne-Fett's going in for one of each version - that's totally hardcore brother!  Wish i could do the same, but Darth Real Life force-crushed my computer last week, so that's where the other half of my saber money's gotta go.  :-\

30" is no problem, the original post has been modified.  Really what the key is, is that we'd like to keep blade lengths to whole numbers :D.

As you all know, runs we do are so we can get sabers that we want for our own collection :)).  A pair will be residing in the Vader's Vault Geek Cave :)).

On a semi-related note, are these gonna have a user manual? or does anyone have a link they can share so i can learn how to mess with the color and sound settings once they come in?

Guys, in case you are not aware, we are moving house and shop this month Movin' on Up (http://www.fx-sabers.com/forum/index.php?topic=43867.0) .  All the hilts are on order.  Once we get settled in the new place, we will begin working in earnest on the design for the internals (right now we just have a rough design) and will get you an update as soon as we have it.

Here's a little sneaky peek of the exterior in this render provided by the awesome WAT:

(https://www.fx-sabers.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi136.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq169%2FAJFenderBender%2FTFUII-GM%2Fth_TFUII_Render_zps543dcf82.jpg&hash=5de323b139672da8e729c4fe9eb666bcc7878ded) (http://s136.photobucket.com/user/AJFenderBender/media/TFUII-GM/TFUII_Render_zps543dcf82.jpg.html)

We will have more information on the little details that set this hilt apart from others, very soon :D.

We are committed to making these the most awesome TFU II Concept/Trailer Sabers to date so stay tuned!

Folks, as you know Orbital Machining is doing the machine work on this.  He has gotten a bit behind due to medical issues in the past year and is diligently working to get caught up.  We chose to work with WAT as he is THE man when it comes to lightsaber machining.  His quality is unparalleled.  We ask that you be patient a while longer as these will be more than worth the wait.  I do not have an ETA as of yet, but machining is underway.  I'll be posting some pics in the next day or so of the top half/emitter area which looks awesome so far!

I am not worried.  Still very excited for this saber whenever it might happen.
It will be worth the wait I am certain.  I might even be sending my second payment of 25% soon to stay ahead of the game.  Look forward to updates whenever they may happen.

Yes, yes...patience is not this Sith's strong suit.  I too have no doubt of the quality of this saber once it is finished.

Folks very sorry for the lack of updates here.  Please do not think we are ignoring you all.  As soon as we have more pics we will post them.  In the meantime, can everyone check their status and if something is incorrect PM me please.  This run has been going on a while and a few spots have changed hands over time.  I want to make sure we have everyone's current options correct.  Thanks.

Hi Lumi,

I know I've been going back and forth, but the below config will be final for me:

1.  Lazi-D - CF/trailer/brown leather/34 bullet shine thru/weathered
19.  Lazi-D - CF/trailer/brown leather/34 bullet shine thru/weathered

Thanks,

I just wanted to see if it was okay to send you my second payment of 25%.  The money is just waiting to be sent as long as you dont mind an early payment.

Also, I think I would like to change my blade length to 32".  Otherwise everything is correct for me.

I appreciate it, but that would be an accounting headache.  When the machining is finished, we will send invoices for the second payment :).

CF/ Trailer Version with Black Anodizing/Weathered/Brown Leather Wrap/ 32" Blade with Lit Round Tip

This run has been full for a while now. Like, a long while. The only way you're gunna get a spot on this is if one of the members on the run decides to sell their spot.

I wouldn't go that far.  It is a VERY complex hilt with a lot of little pieces.  However, there is progress which is a good thing .  Acerocket's machining skills are worth the wait and I am confident that these will be a phenomenal centerpiece to all of our collections.

OK folks, good news!  Machining is almost done and we need to make certain we are sending the correct number of hilts to the anodizer.  Since this run has been going on so long (very sorry) there have been changes to options, spots sold, spots bought, etc.  PLEASE look and make sure you name is on the list if you are supposed to be, and confirm the options you see next to your name are the ones you want.  If it says anodizing and we send it to the anodizer, there will be no changing of minds after the fact.

SO PLEASE post in THIS THREAD, "options correct" OR "adjust my options to: ".  I will give this until Friday.  Whoever does not post in the thread, I will PM on Friday.  If we do not hear from you by the end of this coming weekend we are going to roll with what it says by your name.  Because of the nature of anodizing, they all need to be sent at once and I can't hold people up who have been waiting so long to chase other people down.

I realize this has been going on much longer than anticipated so that is why we are giving it the week.

This is strictly for aesthetic build out.  No soundcard changes are available at this time, that ship has sailed :cheesy:.

Let me know if you have any questions and please get your answers posted in this thread ASAP!!! :azn:

That also means that we will be sending out invoices soon for the second payment .

I REALLY hate to do this, since I was lucky enough to snag my spot from someone else here. But, my brother just lost his job, and I want to financially support him and his family as much as I can until he can get back on his feet.

So... whoever PMs me and pays first gets this...

I feel ya.  I was in the same situation over a year ago (actually both my brother and my best friend lost their jobs and they both had infants at the time), so I gave up my spot on this run (the first spot) to help out.  Sad to do it, but family comes first.  Both are now gainfully employed i'm happy to report.

Best of luck to you and your family.

Looks like a very nice saber, only recently found out about all the "sensitive nature" of the saber. Looks great a slight mix of poster and trailer model. In 2010 when the game came out I had dreams about this saber, started making it and never finished it( the smallest start). Interesting pomel, Looks like it may be the best replication yet.

Great work.

OK guys.  A few of you never got back to me so hopefully you are OK with the anodizing because I have given instructions to the machinist to send all the sabers to the anodizer except for the folks that specifically requested no anodizing.

I will be in touch in the next couple of days with payment instructions on the next installment.

Please hit me up via PM with any questions.

edit:  Thanks for interest in buying my spot.  I am waiting for Starkiller to free up some space because his inbox is full and I can't message him/her

Hi Lumi,

Any updates?

What he said.  Coming up on three years folks, I hope this is VV most epic, mind blowing saber run ever to date! I in no way am trying to get out the torches and pitchforks here against VV! I just would appreciate Luminara or Starkiller (Deanna or Alan) chiming in, as this is frustrating.
When can we expect these done?

Thank you.

Working on the internal design and fitment currently.

We have the crystal chamber under construction and once we receive the parts from manufacturing we will start building them out.

Still working on chassis/reveal.

We are still in progress with manufacturing the innards and once those are done installs will start.

This is essentially your answer for the last 10 months.

Can I still get a starkiller? I recently got into collecting VV sabers as I used to only collect licensed replicas (stupidly). The starkiller saber is absolutely amazing with the exposed crystal etc. Will this version be exactly the same?

This run is actually for the second game, TFUII and hence a different saber. They have never made this one before in run.

There is a confirmed run coming of the exposed Starkiller saber you are referring to with some reported upgrades, but that is all they have said. It was planned to be started already I believe but I think it something with the chassis pushed it back, as it did this run.

That's all what Ive gleaned anyway, I know nothing officially.

are you (with way too few words) saying:

or are you just in the wrong thread?

Hoping this run may get the option to upgrade with this feature.  Would be nice to see this saber to be the first with that particular feature due to the MASSIVE patience we have shown throughout this never ending run.  Would be a nice treat is all I am saying.

If anyone on this run gets a reply or update to any PMs from VV, please share. I have sent a few PMs to Deanna and Alan and have had NO replies which I find beyond belief after a 3 year wait time. I am a repeat customer and have simply asked in a polite manner for a ETA so I can decide if I still wait or sell my spot on this run.

I feel your pain sithslayer.  It has officially been 3+ years since we paid our $400+ deposits on this run.  Vader's Vault has been darn near absent from this forum since starting their Facebook group.  I really feel we have been neglected ever since that time.  Can't help but wonder why other "combat class" sabers have taken priority over this one.  Pretty sure our money is just as good as the money being spent on those other sabers.  I understand it takes time to design chassis parts and internal designs, but I also see a lot of time and energy being spent in other areas while this project remains on the back burner.  Frustration is at an all time high and Communication is crucial given the circumstances and timeframe of this run.  Not trying to hurt any feelings here but I believe a little healthy criticism is in order at this time.

This is NOT a Combat Class saber.  This is a high end run with a full reveal.  Totally different animal in terms of complexity, pricepoint, and timeframe both to produce and complete.

We do not currently have plans for Neopixel on this run, however we DO have plans for the next gen board.  It has taken longer than we would like and we apologize.  As you all know we did not have hilts in hand until Q2 last year.  We were unable to work much on the internals until we had them in hand.  We have been putting a lot of time and effort into finalizing the internals and I hope to have this run wrapped up by end of Summer soundcard and chassis finalization permitting.  I had hoped it would be done sooner but have come down with the flu not once, but twice since January which has been very disruptive and has taken us out of the shop for several weeks between the two bouts :(.

However, the "why is energy going elsewhere" comments are not helpful.  We run a business and we have to put energy in many different areas.  Producing things can be very easy or very difficult depending on the challenges of each project and some projects will come to fruition quickly, some will be time consuming.  It just isn't a relevant discussion.  Until you own a production business you do not understand the challenges involved.  You also need to understand that in order to have any sort of product line many different things get worked on and produced simultaneously.  It doesn't mean because we are releasing one thing that we are not also working on other things.  I assure you we are.

Should anyone be unhappy waiting, please contact me.  You all have a 25% deposit.  I am happy to refund anyone who no longer wants to wait.  These are spectacular, I would hope you would want to wait, particularly as they are being sold at 3 year ago pricing.  They would be priced quite a bit higher if we released this run today, so folks are getting a spectacular deal.  I also feel these are going to be the definitive TFUIIs.  The details on this saber have not been seen in other versions.  But, we do understand if the wait has been too long for you and that is fine too.

I never did send out the invoices for the second payment, which will be coming soonish.

Thanks for your patience and May the Force Be With You!

For the record, the question " why is energy going elsewhere?" was never asked.  I did however make an observation of time and energy being spent on other projects while this one was sitting idle as far as we could tell.  It is understood that other projects must move forward regardless of this one, but is frustrating and a completely valid observation from a customer standpoint.  It does become "relevant" to the customer after a certain period of time with no communication or updates.

I will leave it at that.

I understand your frustration.  But, like every product we release, we have a vision and a plan and I am not going to compromise the end product.  I would prefer to refund those not willing to wait and continue moving forward to bring out the best TFUIIs ever.  These are a unicorn for me, as are most of the runs we do.  We do these runs because we want the sabers as well.  I do not want to cut any last minute corners, particularly as everyone has been waiting so long already.  It would be foolish to compromise at the end.

1-3 more months, 6 months, next year, etc? I am a good customer and am not looking to bash VV.  I just want to get enough information so I can see if it's worth waiting vs getting my deposit back (which I think is fair of you to offer, thank you).

I am sure the Crystal Chamber and all will be very Unicorn, as will the whole Saber. I probably don't foresee anyone on this run selling theirs unless dire circumstances call Haha

I never understood the "I paid money for this" argument for highly coveted runs like this, though.
If you want your money back, you could have easily sold your spot. VV have always been cool with that, and it would take you about 5 minutes to find a buyer.

Thank you in advance for your reply.

You are not the one who made the comment about Combat Class Sithslayer1.  The comment that was made was why Combat Class take precedence over this run.  The answer is they don't.  It is simply a business truth that Combat Class are much simpler to produce.  Different machinist, different engineering, different install difficulty, totally different pricepoint, etc. I have a team of employees who deal with that production.  High end runs are primarily Alan and I and we want a very special crystal chamber for these as since this run started the bar has been raised on internals for this saber.  Other manufacturers have produced some very respectable versions.  However, WE promised everyone the best TFUIIs every produced and that is what we are going to deliver.  There are details on this saber that have not been seen in any other version externally and we want the internals to match that level of awesomeness.

It makes no sense after this time, to just install them and ship them with a conventional, non-reveal chassis.  There is a reason we waited for the best machinist in the industry to provide us with our vision of this saber brought to life.  It would be a disservice to the saber as well as our customers at this point to compromise on the internals just to get them out and it is something I am just not willing to do.  I also want to wait for the next gen board which I am hoping is right around the corner.

So, realistically, I expect these to start shipping over the Summer with the run to be completed this year.  Obviously, not every saber will ship the same day, they will ship over a couple of months.  As soon as I have green light on the soundcards I will be sending out the invoice for the next installment of 25% and then final payment of 50% plus shipping will be due prior to shipping.

I would also like to apologize once again.  This has taken WAY too long and we are aware of it.  As many folks know, our business model changed completely with the release of TFA and we have had an enormous amount of growing pains.  We went from Alan and I working out of our house to a staff of people working out of a state of the art facility.  We went from doing mostly custom work, to doing primarily production work.  We often are unable to get past the day to day realities of running a business like ordering, modeling, bill paying, hiring, training, payroll, taxes, etc. and have not been able to spend as much time on sabers personally so the high end runs and customs have slowed.  We have been working to fix that.  Combat Class wait times are back down to acceptable levels.  We are in the process of trying to hire a CAD designer as well as a Software developer so that we can focus more of our time on our Custom build log and our high end runs, which are where our personal passion lies.  You will be seeing more of the customs in the log posted as well as this run completed this year  :azn:.

I also want to apologize profusely to Erik at Orbital.  In my post yesterday, I made a statement, which I have since corrected, that we received the sabers Q3 last year, which was not the case.  That was an error on my part and I should have checked my records before inserting foot into mouth.  We received them in Q2  last year, not Q3.  As always, he delivered a product that solidifies his legacy of the best machinist in the saber industry and he brought our vision to life down to the smallest nuance.  Guys, Alan and I are committed to getting these moving along faster so that we can meet the above time line.

Anyone who is not OK with that timeline, please contact me for a full refund of your 25% deposit or you can sell your spot.  On spot selling, there are no changes other than blade type available at this point.  Someone would need to buy your spot "as-is" in terms of options.

Please let me know if anyone has any other questions.

At this point, I am going to wait and trust you and Alan that this will be THE TFU Trailer saber against which all others will be  measured!

Thank you.

Onigiri34.  No.  I am not a fan of 3D printed chassis and we do not use them unless there is really no other option.  This will have a full reveal with multiple materials and incorporate CNC machining with other finish techniques.  You are going to love it.  I do not want to say too much more yet .

To carry this over from the other thread here is where updates on the TFU2 run appear.  As I mentioned towards the end of May, we brought on an engineer to help us finalize the internal chassis because we were having a struggle getting it done on our own.  We had changed the design from a more basic internal chassis with a crystal chamber, to something much more elaborate. We felt like we wanted to bring on a cad designer/mechanical engineer to help us work out the finer details as well as all of our upcoming projects.  I realize the Run has been going on a long time and I understand that people are getting frustrated.  It IS very far along. All of the hilts are machined, they are all anodized, and the chassis is designed pending any tweaks after the SK ones are manufactured.  To the person who wanted to see weathering and wrap examples we don't do that.  First of all we don't do spoilers until we are really ready to share.  Secondly we don't do the final finish until everything is already installed.  This minimizes any damage to the fit and finish that might happen during the installation process.  We do not have extras to mock up of these.  As you know, it is a VERY limited run. The reason why the Starkiller was the proof of concept, is because it incorporates a lot of the same features that the Tfu2 chassis will incorporate, but because the Starkiller has the crystal in a different area it's a bit easier to manufacture the chassis. We wanted to make sure everything works out well before finishing with the Tfu2 chassis which incorporates the crystal chamber into its design so is a bit more complex in terms of layout and installation.  As I have mentioned before, if anyone on the run no longer wishes to wait please contact me and we can make arrangements.  We are close. I was hoping for end of summer it's looking more like early fall before they start shipping.  It's not going to be another year, it's not going to go on forever.  But we've waited this long I want it to be right.

The last estimate for completion was that shipping was to start in September 2017. That was given after the previous estimate (Summer 2017) came and went.

Last we were told the TFU2 run had now been placed behind the upcoming TFU1 run because the chassis still needed to be designed and they wanted to try out a few of the TFU2 ideas on the TFU1 run.

As for when we'll see the TFU1s, they've been "about 2 weeks away" since December last year if you follow VV's posts on their community Facebook page, so your guess is as good as mine. I would be shocked (in a positive way) to see the TFU1s in 2017 given that another movie is about to drop, and given that the TFU2s have been placed in the queue behind the TFU1s I wouldn't expect any movement on this run for months.

It seems thatthe TFU2s have joined the TFU1, Slothfurnace collaboration, Kylo Ren replica + original crossguard, and replica armour in a long backlog of stuff that VV has been talking about for 18+ months but hasn't seen the light of day for whatever reason.

I don't work for VV so can't speak to the acid aged weather question.

Happy Holidays Deanna and Alan.  Any updates?  Also, in a recent video I saw  Alan being interviewed at a comic con, he said that VV offers acid aged weathering. Is this something we can discuss for the TFU II trailer concept run?

Thank you and MTFBWY.

Sithslayer1 I got your message.  The weathering we do is an acid weathering, the chemicals used are acid.  I will reach out to you before doing your weathering to discuss specifics to make sure we are on the same page.

Sharky, are you on this run?  If so and you would like a refund on your deposit please contact me.  Otherwise, it is impolite to comment on a run in which you are not a part of.  Or make aspersions to time frames.  We have offered the same to every single person on this run.  Folks who are still waiting are waiting because they know the end result is going to be spectacular.  And, it is.  Those who do not wish to wait can contact me, I am happy to refund your deposits on this run since it is way overdue.

This was a very limited run of 30 pieces that has been fraught with complications.  Most recently we parted ways with the engineer we brought on board in no large part because of issues in the chassis design that he was partially brought on to take care of.  So, unfortunately, I am having my machine shop fix the CAD issues so that they can finish production on the chassis and we can finally put this run to rest.

This is a very special reveal chassis inside a saber that has some exterior accuracy details that to my knowledge have never been seen on a TFUII replica before which is why we have not posted pics or reveals.  I want to keep it close until they are shipping.  These are awesome, collectible pieces and I am really excited to be sharing them.

As for the Slothfurnace collaboration, we have been working closely with Sloth to make sure what we are producing accurately represents not only the Derelict saber, but also the awesome style of reveals that he is known for.  Collaborations like that take time. The replica armor is waiting for two last molds to be produced and then it will launch, hopefully early next year.  The Kylo we are working on a Parks version and I am waiting for them to arrive, they are overdue, the original Kylo is in progress but backseated to some other projects since Phoenix Props was doing their version and we felt no need to drop ours at the same time.  Our original crossguard is coming early spring.

Perhaps you do not understand how production works with a small shop?  There is a limited amount of capital that has to be juggled for each project.  There is no way to do everything all at once unless you somehow have outside funding, which we do not.  We also, no longer take deposits on runs prior to production, so we are not "leveraging your money" like many other people doing runs are doing.  They are not putting their own money in, they are using yours to fund their runs.  WE have decided we do not want to do business that way and we produce the product first (The TFUII was an exception as it was a past run from a few years back now).  Once we have the product in hand then we are comfortable putting them up for sale.  We chose to do things this way as we have watched so many smiths fail in the hobby by getting overloaded, spending the deposit money, then running into financial crisis or health issues and not be able to fulfill their orders.  We do not want this to happen to us so we made a decision a couple of years ago to primarily close the custom log until the lion's share of orders are fulfilled, no longer take any more than a 10% deposit on customs, and not accept deposits on runs at all anymore at least for the forseeable future.  The upcoming TFUIs we have everything in house, when they go up for sale payment will be in full on the website like any other product and we will begin building them out immediately.  Target is that all ship in 6 months or less. When we finally get these chassis for the TFUIIs, the second deposit will be due at that time, we will build them out and collect that last two installments when they are ready to ship.  That is the last run happening that way for us as it has been a humbling learning experience and one we do not wish to repeat.  Hopefully this offers you some insight.

Quick (sort of) update.  Finalizing the chassis design which had to be completely redone due to the incompetent engineer we had the misfortune to hire.  We are just checking final measurements and consulting with the machine shop.  It should be in production within the next couple of weeks.  I hope for an end of March delivery.  As soon as I get the OK from the machine shop that chassis are ready for pick up I will send out notice for that next deposit, so figure sometime in March for that payment request.

We will then pick them up and start immediate installs.  Good news, they will all be coming with the new CF9 .

I know it has been a very long haul and we have said more than once that it was going to be ready soon.  I have not, in my entire career in this hobby, seen such a comedy of errors as has happened with this run.  I don't know why there have been so many issues and I wish they had not occured.

What I can tell you, is that the hilt was exquisitely manufactured by Orbital.  He did a wonderful job.  The new Crystal Focus 9 is an awesome board to drive these beautiful pieces, and the chassis we designed will more than do justice to the hilt.  This will be a high end collectible deserving of a top spot in any discerning collector's collection.

AGAIN, I realize it has been a long wait.  We are finally getting close.  BUT if you feel that you cannot wait any longer, please reach out to me and we will happily refund your deposit no hard feelings.  We do not want people to feel in any way like they are being held captive.  We have made this offer before but I want to reiterate it so that it is clear.  The run has gone on a long time.  We are sorry that has been the case but we are committed to seeing it through and making sure these are the best TFUII run sabers out there, and trust me since we announced this run there are some hard acts to follow :cheesy:.

Please if you have any questions at all reach out to me!

So with all this, and new tech, such as CF9, are we also looking at NEOPIXELs then versus tri-cree options too?

CF9 doesn't have the option for neopixel, as Erv is working on a new CF-LS

I thought I answered this.  This run will not come with Neopixel.  In the event that a CF which supports neopixel is available in the next month or so then we can re-evaluate but our plan is to install them as soon as we get the chassis from the shop. However, of course we will use the CF9, the awesome new CF which was just released a couple of months ago .

Unfortunately, the chassis manufacturing is slow going.  As you all know it had to be completely redone as the previous engineer did crap work.  The good news is the new one is even better and is with the machine shop now and has been for several weeks so hopefully we will be hearing good news soon :).

So - do we think that final payments will be due within the next 3 months? Very interested in the TFU1 saber, but underestimated pricepoint by... a bit. So if will have to pay last $1200 of this run in the next 3 months would be nice to know as I'll probably have to skip it and go for a custom Wrath or Rev-N (or both) instead.

Thanks!

I do not want to commit to 3 months.  The machining alone is likely to take at least that long.  We are looking at a similar but different reveal on these as we put on the TFU1 we just announced.  Due to the most recent engineering issues we had to re-engineer the whole thing because the incompetent one made it over an inch too long and several pieces were not capable of being machined in the real world due to that pesky physics.  The redesign is currently with the machine shop where they are working on final pricing for the inlays and other fun features and then it will go into production.  That is normally around 12 weeks on something like this.  Once production of the chassis is complete we will be asking for that second payment of $400.  We will then pick them up and start installs immediately.  I anticipate it will take a few weeks to get the first proto installed, always does.  Once that happens we will post a nice reveal video and start installing your guys' hilts and the remaining 50% plus shipping will be due when your hilt is complete. I would ballpark 6 months to get from here to there.  I wish I had better news but I do not want to keep saying "soon, soon" when we are past that.  What I will say is that the remaining hilts from the run that were unsold will have a price tag over $3K so the folks that are getting these on this run at the grandfathered price are getting them close to what an empty from other places costs, so your patience will be rewarded in spades.  But, again, anyone tired of waiting, PM me. We are happy to refund your deposit .  We understand it has been way way way beyond a reasonable timeframe on these and we humbly apologize.  If I were able to do everything myself, they would have been done two years ago.  Unfortunately, no one is good at everything and so on runs of this nature there are others involved.  We will be happy when this one is behind us, believe me, but we also want it to be mind blowing to make it well and truly worth the wait and I think we will accomplish that :)

I am definitely willing to wait.  I have deposits on two Concept Version TFUII sabers as you know.  Since I am not as technical as others regarding the sabers can we please touch base before work is done on my two sabers regarding options?  - Rob

Agree on touching base, as it's been so long, technology has changed etc. And on options once designs and such are finalized

There is really nothing that can be changed at this stage in the game.  The sabers were built based on the choices folks made.  The only options available to be changed at this point are blade length and weathering.  Look at your options in the first thread, if there is something missing, let me know.  Otherwise we will be in touch for the next deposit when the machining on the chassis is done.

So this is where I am just going to say I am saddened by your comment.  You are very well aware of what is going on as you are in my FB PM box constantly.

YES we know the run has gone on a long time.  YES it sucks.  YES the wait is LONG. YES that is on us.

HOWEVER, we have REPEATEDLY offered refunds to everyone on this run for their 25% deposit paid.  Almost NO ONE has taken us up on it.

I just buried my grandson after a year long fight with Leukemia.  YOU KNOW THAT!  Why in the world would you think it is ok or somehow funny to harass someone who has been going through this?

Because of that situation the past year has seen some loss of focus and some times where things were pretty overwhelming.  We haven't necessarily been able to push things as quickly as we normally would and haven't been as involved with things like the soundboard development, etc. Luckily we are very fortunate to also have a very capable team who has stepped up during times where we were distracted. This has resulted in a net gain of several weeks for us. Most Combat Class are currently in the 12-16 week range down from 16-22. For those who weren't following he was diagnosed at 4 months old and fought and fought and fought.  In the end though he contracted a fungal infection in the hospital and because he had no immune system from all the chemo there was nothing that could be done.  It has been devastating to our family, to my son and his fiance, and to everyone who knew them.  No child should have to go through what he did.

We haven't gone anywhere, we haven't ghosted, anyone who has asked for an update has received one. IF we had disappeared into the ether taking folks money with us like so many in the community today THEN I could understand the harassment.  But this is not the case.  We are committed to getting any outstanding obligations we have taken care of one way or another.

Instead of just cancelling the run, refunding everyone, and then building them out our leisure and selling them for 3 times the run cost (what they are worth at today's value), we have worked our butt off with machinists, anodizers, etc. as well as working with Plecter on the new board to ensure we can finish this run off on a high note.

I am going to say this one more time.  If you are tired of waiting, TAKE THE REFUND.

As I mentioned to you numerous times in your PM box and alluded to everyone else, we are waiting on CFX.  When the footprint is finalized 100%, I need to THEN finish up the chassis.  Once that happens and we have the new boards in hand and tested THEN installs will start.  I cannot make the board go any faster.  I thought we would have it by the holidays but it didn't turn out that way.  There is a lot to it.  It is pretty freaking awesome so far but not complete.  Soon tm. In case you are confused, we do not make the boards.

ANYONE ELSE: If you are not on this run, do not comment in this thread.  In fact, constantly poking at us and posting it wherever you can is simply harassment and, frankly, other than folks on this run, NO ONE CARES! It just makes you look like a jerk and only gets you attention with a few childish people.  I am referring to you Nick Cline and any other childish immature person out there who thinks it is funny to harass someone to try to earn brownie points at others' expense.

For those in the back, the run has gone on long however full refunds have been offered repeatedly since relatively early on for anyone on the run.  We are not "holding people's funds captive" as some have poked at.  We only ever took a 25% deposit and have refused further requests from people to pay more towards their balance.  Anyone who is on this run is on it voluntarily.  NO ONE wants a run to go on this long, MOST SPECIFICALLY a MANUFACTURER who has more capital tied up in the run than the entire end cost of the run, let alone the 25% deposit.  We would LOVE to get out from under it but we are committed to providing the product promised to our loyal fans and we are committed to providing it at the same cost that we offered it for 5 years ago even though we are VERY upside down between materials costs, R&D and multiple changes.   To be clear there will very possibly be a couple of upgrade options which will have a cost if people select them, but the original options chosen will be provided at the original costs quoted.  Obviously with new applicable tech. This is our reward to our customers for their loyalty.  To provide the finest TFFUII Starkiller ever produced at the costs originally quoted.  If that does not work for you and you are on the run please PM me and we will make arrangements for your refund.  EDIT please understand VV will not honor spots sold since we made the refund offer so please do not sell your spot as we will not honor the transfer.  If you want a refund contact us directly and we will be happy to oblige.

With the new CF 10 CFX with smooth swing, will all current fonts from Saberfont.com work, or only new optimized fonts? I saw Rob's (Madcow's video) this am, and I believe he said fonts optimized for smooth swing only, or did I misunderstand?

They’ll work, they just won’t be “smoothswing”. You’ll only get the “smoothswing effect” from “smoothswing” fonts

It just released on August 22.  We are working on the chassis as, again, had to be redone to accommodate.  I have not yet sent the pms but I am working on them.  May as well let the cat out, everyone on the run is being offered the ability to upgrade to neopixel at no additional charge as a thank you for years of support.  You do not HAVE to take the upgrade, if you really want in hilt led we will build it out with a TriCree but with the current capabilities of the cFX we feel neopixel is really the thing to show it off to its best capabilities.

I would also like to reiterate the offer I have made dozens of times over the past few years, anyone on this run who wants a refund on their deposit, please contact me.  We are happy to provide it.  These are going to be complex to install.  I hope to have chassis finalized in the next 2-3 months and get the builds done by the end of the year.  It has been a long haul.  We know this and feel the pain.  So again, anyone just sick and tired of waiting, we completely understand, reach out to me and we are happy to refund your deposit with no hard feelings.

Everyone else, your PM is forthcoming.  I know I am several weeks late on it but really wanted a final board footprint so I could try to estimate time to get the chassis modified and redone.

Excited to see the Crystal Reveal, biggest crystal ever haha, whenever it is ready. Still happy I am a part of this run and look forward to the end of year :)

----------------------------------------------------------
Hi Luminara, that is an incredible upgrade offer and it is very much appreciated! On the free Neopixel at no additional cost, will the blade also be included at no charge? If so, I assume in your Pm to the run members that we can request a blade length?

Thank you.

PMs have not gone out.  Same situation.  We lost our machinist AGAIN and have hired a new one.  With CFX chassis needed a complete re-engineer, and the re-engineered designs are currently out with a machinist waiting our turn AGAIN.  If our new in house guy gets up to speed before "our turn" we will work them in house but it is a complex design to throw at a new guy so we are trying to cover all bases to get these done as quickly as possible to put this to rest.  If you do not want to wait anymore Pfockerchief, AGAIN, please contact me for a refund.  This goes for anyone else on this run.  This is the same offer that I have made so many multiple times.

Just to give you a head's up, in the past year and a half, I lost my grandmother who was a mother to me, my infant grandson passed after a year long battle with Leukemia, Alan broke his foot, I have health issues and had exploratory surgery three weeks ago, and my grandfather passed two weeks ago (again he was a father to me).  Life has been unfairly difficult.  However we keep plugging ahead, we have not gone anywhere and we are moving forward on all projects.

Thing is, I can't handle any more stress than I already have.  This run has gone stupidly long.  It is a personal embarrassment and it is a stress every single day,  I have offered multiple times, refunds for the 25% deposit that you paid.  If you cannot wait, please take the refund.  These types of "do we have PMs" posts are not helpful as they add more stress into an already stressful situation.

Before accusations fly, I am not looking for sympathy.  We have obligations and we intend to fulfill them, unlike many others in the industry who take the money and run that is NOT us.  We are here for the long term.  This particular run was just cursed with a comedy of errors.  It has been one thing after another FOR YEARS.  Refunds have also been offered, for years.  I assume anyone still on the run, which is almost everyone, still wants their sabers and we intend to deliver them.  HOWEVER, if you cannot wait any longer WE UNDERSTAND.  TAKE THE REFUND.  Don't add to the stress.  Putting more stress into an already stressful situation slows things down, not speeds things up.  It is paralyzing.  Please, for the love of God, if you feel you cannot wait, TAKE THE REFUND.

To everyone who has waited patiently over the years, all I can say is I am sorry.  This is not some deliberate withholding of your sabers.  The sabers themselves have been machined and in house for a couple of years now.  The internals are difficult and getting 35 manufactured to specs has proven to be much more of a challenge than I ever anticipated.  With multiple hardware changes in between we just keep getting screwed with this.  We are so far in the red now that it is a joke.  However, again, it is a matter of pride.  We are committed to getting it finished and done the right way.  I love our design, even with all the wonderful versions that have come out since then I still feel it is definitive and will be a centerpiece to your collections.

So, in closing,  PMs have not gone out.  I was hoping to have chassis in hand to be able to have something exciting to share as well as collect the second 25% but that is not where we are.  Probably looking at after the holidays now for that which is not what any of us want to hear but I would rather be straight up with you, as I always am, in case you decide it is finally time to ask for a refund.  The chassis HAS been re-engineered and is retaining some of the pieces that were already manufactured so that should at least help move things along.  It is a multi metal machined chassis (no 3D printed garbage) that is classy and detailed.  It is a beautiful reveal to reside inside beautiful sabers when it is complete.  I promise literally the DAY I have chassis in my hot little hands we will be installing these and getting them out to those still on the run.  Anyone who has had enough, please PM me, happy to refund.

Dear Deanna & Alan,
I'm sure revealing so much of the pain in your personal lives was very difficult and I think your incredibly brave to share that! I'm sure I speak for many on this waiting list that while the wait has been a long one, your personal lives, & what you have endured is so much more important in the grand scheme of things vs a little cool flash light we've been waiting for!

Please take care of yourselves and your loved ones! When their ready, their ready and the sabers will be epic, I have no doubt!

Are there any updates on the run?

There are, I was really hoping to wait until we had the last few bits to give an update, but since you asked: things are finally moving full speed ahead  :cheesy:.  As you know, we had to have the chassis re-engineered several times.  This last time due to the new CFX.  We sent the chassis out for production late last year but, due to Covid, only just finally received them.  In the meantime, we needed them for final fitment to order all the greeblies which are now in progress.  I anticipate those to take several weeks.  Once they arrive, we will be able to finally finish up this run.  The good news is we are definitely on the home stretch, we have almost everything we need and are starting partial installs.  We are doing everything we can now to prepare for when the greeblies arrive so the final installs are just finishing up and getting the aesthetics on the exterior like leather wraps and weathering done.  So target is to have most sabers in folks hands by the end of the year or early next. That means that full payment will be due prior to shipping. If anyone has special circumstances they need to discuss please reach out to me directly.

Darth Hulk we are probably just going to send out final invoices upon completion.  I will post here when that happens just in case people do not check their PM boxes.

To update again, still no greeblies but they are with the manufacturer. I do anticipate at this point it will be close to the holiday or shortly after that we receive those.  Once I have them in hand we will immediately move forward getting these finished up.  I will post here when they arrive.

Dragonfly, I believe we have spoken about your selections.  However, send a PM here with your selections again and I will update the front page.

Sithslayer, we can discuss special weathering, but even our regular weathering is an acid based treatment.

We have built out the first one to check fitment, identified process issues and are working on corrections as we work on the next one.  Due to the nature of this run and the fact that technology has changed SIGNIFICANTLY since the run started, there are minor adustments and process changes that need to occur to finish everything efficiently and with the quality and professionalism we are known for.  Keep in mind the entire chassis has been redone several times and some of the original engineering did not anticipate the form factors and wiring requirements for today's tech.

Once we finish out the cosmetics on that first one, we will post pics but with MegaCon next week, it will probably not be until the end of the month.

These are VERY time consuming so these are not going to be an overnight thing.  I anticipate the first couple will be ready to ship in the next 6-8 weeks or so and then slowly roll out throughout the remainder of this year/early next.  I will be in touch with folks as their sabers get close to completion.

I will reiterate the offer that we have mentioned dozens of times, anyone who is tired of waiting, please contact me either here or at the shop at 470-839-2551 or by Facebook Messenger - Deanna Johnson, and I am happy to send it along no questions asked.

I do appreciate everyone's patience for all these long years.  This run has been way too long and I cannot apologize enough.  I am surprised and honored that everyone chose to hang on and we will do our very best to not let you down and provide a stunning end product worthy of any high end collection!

May the Force Be With You All!

I'd imagine there are a few in the run hanging on for resale value at this point.

VV have said that they're going to be selling spares for triple the original run price.

Not much sense in getting your $400 deposit back when you could be making a $3000 profit by selling it on yourself once its in your hands.

I've got an agreement to purchase one of the hilts for a price in a mid point of that from one of the run members. Can't wait to see them all done up.

I have dealt many times with VV over the years, and Alan and Deanna are good people! I am also frustrated by the long wait, but very hopeful that the saber will be worth the wait!

I own "Modi" which is in the VV saber gallery on their website and the top half has a TFU trailer design that was done by Orbital Machining and it is still among my most prized hilts, so I trust that VV will deliver an amazing saber!

Pictures will be posted when I have them to post.  Obviously no one has received their sabers, we would have made an announcement if they had been.  I am very sorry . I get that people are frustrated.  Again, please take the refund if you are not wanting to wait any longer as we are doing everything we can to move this forward but also have staffing issues, supply chain issues, and other projects.  This particular saber is a very very involved install and we are still having some growing pains with it. The original design was made for We are working out the process issues we had with the first one and moving forward.  As mentioned in the previous post we had Megacon and then, unfortunately, had to roll right into NYCC.  We have a dearth of time right now.  We are juggling a million things. This project is definitely one of those projects on the current plate and we are working to get through it.  I know the length of time it has been.  I wish I could say they are all going to be done tomorrow, but they are not.  And likely while a couple may be done before the end of the year, the run is not going to be.  I wish I had better news but I just do not.  I am just going to continue to plug away and get them done as soon as we can.

I for one don't mind the wait. I knew when I first started looking at lightsabers I was probably going to go with Vader's Vault for at least my first one. Then you folks announced you were doing this run and I had to get in on it.  It might be a minority opinion, but I would rather you took the time needed in order to meet the standard of quality you guys are known for, than to do a rush job simply for the sake of finishing the run.

Another update and I know it is not going to be a happy one for anyone.  These are not shipping this year.  I thought the one that was successfully installed was going to be a benchmark, but upon working on subsequent hilts, a major issue showed up that has to be corrected resulting in one piece of the chassis having to be remade, again .  With manufacturing lengths of time right now, that is going to add at least a couple of months and there is absolutely nothing I can do about it.  I will update again once we have it in hand.  I am so sorry folks, I was really hoping to have at least the first few shipping before the holiday but after this length of time I am not going to move forward with something I know is going to have issues.  Today's electronics just require a ton more wires than in the past so it is a real issue getting everything to fit and function based on our vision.

Again, I cannot apologize enough for all of the delays and the length of time this has taken. It is only out of sheer stubborness that I did not cancel the run long ago.  The frustration is that everything is gorgeous.  It is just getting everything to gel perfectly so that the final product is as functionally beautiful as it is aesthetically that has given ongoing fits.

As mentioned since early on, anyone desiring a refund, please message me. Happy to get it right over to you. Otherwise I will be back here again as soon as I have more to report.  Hopefully better news with the next update .

I do want to wish you all a Happy Holiday Season!

Instead of causing even more issues why not just take the refund Pfockerchief? We have been offering everyone on the run a refund for years.  I am not coercing anyone to stick it out and I am not just sitting here ignoring it.  We work on it as much as we can throughout everything else. We are completely overloaded and stressed to the limit.  Running a business during the pandemic has been extremely difficult.  Staffing and supply chain issues have made this impossible and just because the perception is that the pandemic is over that doesn't flip some imaginary switch.  Staffing issues are worse if possible than I have ever seen in almost 40 years of being in some sort of management, and supply chain issues make things extraordinarily difficult.  Accelerometers, processors, bluetooth boards, leds, batteries have all had challenges either currently or in the past 12 months.

This particular run has been cursed.  The last chassis looked great, we did the install and realized that something was done backwards.  It looks aesthetically beautiful but is backwards for wiring and functionality. I have a potential solution but do not have the prototype yet.  At this point, I just do not know what else to do.  I have spent more on the run than the retail price I quoted you all (by quite a bit now).  And I am trying to honor that oommittment by manufacturing this at a loss to honor my word.  I have been called names and bullied throughout the process and am at a breaking point.

Please, take the refund.  I can't make it go any quicker than it is.  I know for those who do not understand manufacturing it seems like "it is only 20 pieces, should be easy" but that is precisely why it is so difficult.  Most places will not touch a 20 piece order at any price that mortals can afford as it is simply not cost effective.  So we have been having to navigate that all this time everytime something has to be redone.  Right now almost no one is taking this type of work.  I am trying.  When this was first designed it was designed for completely different technology, a smaller battery, and we were early in our engineering prowess which is why we had to hire other engineers to design the internals.  Unfortunately since the engineer who did the externals was different than the one doing the internals, it has been very rocky.  There have been several iterations, each time utilizing expensive metals and when things do not fit properly it is not something we can just squish in and release. I apologize to everyone who is on the run.  When we first set out on this all intentions were to have it done in a year.  But the manufacturing lagged, technology marched on and we have been playing catch up trying to get the internals manufactured the way we envisioned but functional with today's technology.  We were soooo close on this last one, now it is just one part.  Unfortunately an expensive part, and I have been exploring options.  Please for anyone fed up at this point, TAKE THE REFUND.  It will not hurt my feelings in the least.  For those who still after reading this do not want the refund, I am going to have to ask that you continue to have some grace. I can't wave a wand.  There are things still not right that have to be fixed.  I cannot take the stress though.  So please, if you cannot find it in yourself at this point to wait, I get it it has been a long time.  Way too long for any run to have taken.  Please take the refund.  For those still committed, I will continue to plug away at it.

Also, one last thought, we took a small 25% deposit at the time.  It is not like we took the whole amount upfront.  We have also been offering refunds since very early on. If this is something causing you stress or anger, why hang on?  Why continue to cause stress to people just trying to make glowy flashlights to make people happy, and why continue to cause yourself stress?  What is the motivation at that point?  This small 20 piece run has caused me years of stress.  I lose sleep over it.  It was a committment I made to all of you and so I keep fighting to get it done.  Please take the refund and move on.  To those who have remained patient, I thank you from the very bottom of my heart! You guys have been wonderful.

I am going to reiterate this ONE MORE TIME, anyone tired of waiting or just finished for any reason at all, please take the refund.  I will be checking my PM box in the next week or so, any of you feel free to PM with your Paypal address and I will get it right over upon request.

Warmest Regards,
LUMI

To be honest Deanna, it really feels like you want us all to take the refund at this point.  This project has taken a back seat for so long and everyone on this run has been amazingly patient and allowed time.  I think we are just about done chasing false hope is the issue.  I have not spoken with anyone else about this run and am just giving my thoughts upon reading your post.  The project doesn’t seem to be cursed, just lacking any sort of focus or priority.  Clearly we still all want the saber or we wouldn’t still be hanging on to our spots, but again I feel like we are just being slowly worn down to accept the refund.

I can understand why you would feel that way. At this point it would certainly be a relief as then we could finish them without feeling pressure.

There is no lack of focus. It is constantly top of mind.  The problem though is that the wheels are turning, I can't make it go faster. Clearly if I could have I would have.

I wish it had gone differently.  But it didn't.   By the time we received the physical hilts, the internals that were designed for it were already obsolete. We had a string of bad engineering which ate up a couple of years. Then my grandson got sick and we were unable to move forward during that period. The last chassis looked and behaved well in preliminary testing and so we had the entire run internals redone at the cost of many thousands of dollars.  Unfortunately that occurred during covid by this point and it took a ridiculously long time period by the time we had them in hand we were having staffing issues I was not able to get to the installs right away. Once we did we realized that there was this issue. A part was reversed from what it should have been to be installable. I have been trying to resolve it since.

I appreciate the folks that have been patient and have stuck with us all this time period and because I gave you my word, I fully intend to finish the run for you guys. But the continued pressure, some post or thread somewhere almost every month has taken its toll. While most have been more than patient  (thank you so much) there have been a few people on the run that have been particularly difficult.  They have been abusive and difficult to deal with. That is uncalled for. You were all offered refunds. If you want to stick it out, then do so kindly and with grace. Otherwise take the refund. Sometimes when people are particularly aggressive it makes it harder for me to cut through that and focus on what I need to do. You get sort of paralyzed because you are just stressed to the limit.

What's hard for me to relate to is that after this period of time it has already been so long why not just have the grace and let me get the run finished instead of these kinds of things like oh "everybody on the run PM me". I've offered refunds for years, like literally years. We are not just hanging on to people's money with no intention of fulfilling the run and, in addition, we took a very small deposit relatively speaking  I am trying to do right and honor my word rather than just forcing refunds which I could have done a long time ago. I could have said "Hey the run is defunct we're never gonna be able to get to it here's your money back". Instead I waded in and tried to resolve it so that everybody who was on the run could have what they wanted. But I can't take any more pressure because I am doing all I can do to bring it to conclusion.   Posts like the one earlier today do make me wanna just close the run and give up. So it's really up to you folks going forward as to whether or not we're going to be able to continue. So if you all would PM me instead of PMing each other and let me know what you'd like to do that would be fantastic.

I also want to reiterate that I am greatful to those who have waited patiently and am continuing to plug away for YOU guys. The run will be completed even if everyone decides to get a refund because we just have entirely too much blood, sweat and tears as well as significant financial outlay into it to not finish.  I understand everyone is frustrated,  as am I. I do not mean to diminish in any way the ridiculous length of time it has taken or your right to be frustrated.

Deanna my simple request for PMs on the run was modest and simply meant to understand that very thing.  Ive been extremely patient waiting for the ultimate VV TFU2 saber.  I barely comment and certainly don't on FB as all.  If you somewhere believe my post was inflammatory well then all I can say...it wasn't meant to be.  Any rate....last post I'll ever make on the topic.

It has been well established through the years that VV DOES NOT do that.

Not something that we do. We are perfectly willing to return deposits. But when they are installed, that will be by us :).

i know that but its completely different circumstances here tho mate and with all due respect thats not really for you to answer tbh,
i was thinking with people getting refunds they mite offer them to at the least cut losses,

""Not something that we do. We are perfectly willing to return deposits. But when they are installed, that will be by us :).""

Also keen to get an update. I was beginning to suspect this had shadow dropped.

Eight years past due now. It would be good to see some progress.

Yep way past due.  Yes yes Deanna I know I can get a refund but I don't want a refund...I simply would like the saber we all yearned for years ago.  An update would be great.

At minimum I feel like a yearly update should be common courtesy and a simple sign of respect for those of us who have been waiting patiently.  Otherwise I have to say it feels a bit neglecting of the people and project.

Perhaps it would be a good idea for a moderator, or Yoda himself, to intervene here and ask VV to respond to the requests for an update.

People, when this request came in wr were on the road for san diego. I am driving back currently. It is a 3 day drive for me each way and a 4.5 day convention. I had intended to respond when I returned. At this point I am locking this thread. Anyone who has a question about the run who is actually on the run can send me a personal message or call the shop when I return. We are doing our very best to navigate a post COVID world with less staff and less resources. I have offered everyone on this run a refund many, many, many times. While I am committed to getting it finished, right now I am over my head and doing the very best I can. This is always extraordinarily stressful. There are 2 options. Wait until I can get it done, and it will get done, or take the refund. I am more than happy to refund deposits on this run to whoever wants one. Coming in here when you've said, first of all, that you were not going to post about this anymore, and second when you know where to find me, makes no sense. I am happy to refund you or you can continue to wait. I don't have a date because I am trying to get through everything all at once. We are shipping more than we ever have in our entire history. Things are moving. I haven't forgotten this run, I'm reminded of it constantly so even if I were to forget for 5 minutes There's not really any way to do that.I'm also not going to be held hostage when I have offered refunds repeatedly.

Smorgis, you are correct. IT is not unreasonable And I will endeavor to do better about that but I have spoken to most of you elsewhere multiple times in the last twelve months so it just seems like I am giving updates all the time, just not here  But I recognize that the folks Ive spoken to are not 100% of the folks on the run. So I will try to post here more often. Again, anyone with a question or who would like a refund please contact me via PM or call the shop later this week when I return. I am sorry, once again, that this run did not go the way any of us hoped up to this point. Hopefully those of you tired of waiting will contact me for your refunds and everyone else I will do the best I can to get you an update soon.
