Graflex ANH Build in Progress
« on: November 29, 2008, 06:06:46 PM »
I've had this Parks Graflex for about 2 weeks, awaiting the arrival of my US2. It is due to arrive Monday, so I figured I'd get everything else ready.

First I added the cosmetics - grips, thumbscrew, shortened brass pin screws. It's amazing, I get chills every time I look at it...

Tactile momentary switch should be no problem with US2

Graflex Shop LED/Blade holder wired up with my favorite LED - LedEngin 5 watt blue

I decided to go a different route than a beautiful interior with a crystal chamber and viewable chassis (not that I could design one anyway) and decided instead to focus on run-time, thus installing 2 18650 2600mah li-ion cells (which will give about 3.5 hours) and a recharge-port. The US2 will be hot glued to the top of the batteries which are secured to the PVC chassis. I also put the speaker at the front of the saber (tested with a MR board) and it actually produces very nice sound coming out of the front of the hilt and the few mid body holes. Nice!

I've always wanted this saber, since I was a wee lad, and it seems that in two days, my dream will come true =)

I await the finished piece eagerly!

In your opinion how would the LEDengin blue rate against the LuxV blue in brightness?

I'm looking at LuxV blue, cyan, and green against their LEDengin counterparts for my US2.0 sabers...

The blue is definitely brighter, in my experience, and it is a perfect-movie accurate blue, in my opinion

The green also seems a bit brighter, and it is also nice and saturated (unlike the green P4s), very similar to a Cyan bin 6 LuxV

As far as cyan, well, there is no LedEngine cyan

The only tricky part with them is the optics, but that can be managed...

Was just sold to me by Muftak. It was made by Yoda with a crystal chamber. Very stoked indeed! I'll pop the champagne bottle and run around the neighborhood like a little kid with this baby!  ;D
