Title: Dead saber
Post by: aflemos on January 08, 2020, 12:10:12 PM
Hi,

I've owned a Master Replica's Force FX ROTJ Luke's saber for a long time but it's been in storage for a couple of years now. Saddly I forgot to remove the batteries before storing it (I didnt think it'd be in storage for so long) and today i took it out and it won't start. I removed the battery pack and noticed that the batteries had bursted. The pack wasn't very dirty with battery fluid but there some has drained. I took them out and cleaned the battery pack with WD40, let it rest a bit and tried on a set of used (but identical) batteries. Nothing happened.
I'd appreciate any tips on bringing my saber back to life.

Thank you.

You may have to dis-assemble the battery holder and check the internal wiring and make sure there is no corrosion damage to the wires.

Thanks for the tip.

Here's how it looks:

Is it salvageable? I'm not very electronics savvy but I can try some basic stuff if someone can point me in the right direction.

Probably salvageable. Clean as much corrosion off as you can and see if that helps.
