who makes mini lightsaber mods?
« on: April 13, 2007, 12:59:43 PM »
I've been trying to find some mini saber mods.  Like a laser pointer put into the mini saber, or a lighter or a luke rotj V2, or any modified mini MR saber.

Does anyone know who makes/can make them?
Has anyone seen a modded mini saber?
Any pics or info will be very much apreciated!

thanks

a lighter would be sweet, even though i don't smoke. i just love playing with fire
i don't really think that doing a lighter or laser pointer is possible since the sabers are solid. you would need to mill them out which means big money

I started an LED mod to my AFBB Obi-Wan ROTS mini a while ago. Never finished it though. I have the emitter drilled out for a blue LED  and a clear plastic rod for the blade shaped. It will use a watch bettery in the pommel. I just found a small micro switch from a cheap laser pointer I took apart that may be useful. That has been my hang up so far was a switch. I am currently scratchbuilding a light up Harry Potter wand. After it is finished (it's my third) I will revisit the saber project.

I'd be interested too...
I was looking to get an Obiwan weathered apart so they'd be similar builds.

You say the emitter is drilled out? but did you take it apart?

Oha nd Equinox, the Luke ROTJ at the widest part of the emitter end it
pops off and then the whole thing unscrews ;)

ya have to be carefull cause they are small though :D

I don't have pics, but here is a descrip. The saber (Obi ROTS) is held together by a long screw. The head is under the emitter and it is threaded into the pommel. Most of the pieces lock together with little tabs and notches. Now you would think you could just unscrew the pommel. Well, the pommel is tabbed so you can't unscrew it. Soooo, I drilled a small hole in the center of the emitter head so I could get a thin shafted phillips srewdriver in there. The hole has to be big enough for the screw head to back out. The emitter is a two piece deal with the flange of the emitter glued on the top thus encapsulating the screw head. With this done you can hold the pommel and unscrew the screw thus dissasembling the saber.

It sounds similar to the Luke ROTJ and I bet they are all very similar so the Weathered
Obiwan would be no different I'm sure ;)

Look into it I will 8)

Probably. The easiest way to dissasemble would be to get the flange off the emitter. If you want to add an LED and a blade you would still have to drill out the emitter. I didn't want force the flange off for fear of damaging it. So for my plans it's a moot point. Just drill it!  ;D
