I'm currently having DR do upgrades for 5 sabers, and so far the collaboration and communication are exceptional- I really couldn't ask for anything more- full review will come in a week or 2, but I am beyond stoked with the process so far! 5/5 for communication.

I had a deal with Ducos Rossis to trade MHS parts and hilt electronics for one of his custom Sith Holocrons

The parts were sent a month and a half ago and I have gotten several assurances in the past 3 weeks that "the holocron will ship tomorrow" and one "it shipped yesterday", this was a week and a half ago.

I have asked for a tracking number on a couple of occasions as well as a picture of it in progress, both were promise but none received.

I have also made the Moderators staff aware of this issue and Jango told me it was noted in the council.

::EDIT 7/16/2011::
Ducos has contacted me in an attempts to make amends, I will update with additional information as it is available

::EDIT 7/23/2011::
I finally received my package.  Included was about half of the items I sent as part of the trade as well as the holocron.  When I plugged in the Holocron to my computer the drive seems to be damaged.  I am unable to read the drive volume or format it.  Probable cause is damage from static discharge.

Over all my rating for this deal is 3/5 since it did take so long and in the end the holocron was damaged.  The saving grace is i did get a majority of the original trade items back.

I sent him a 2010 obi wan for a conversion with some paint and a louder speaker. It came out way more amazing what I had imagined. Communication was excellent, he is a very cool down to earth sabersmith. It was completed and sent to my front door in two weeks ! The craftsmanship was great and I can't put the thing down ! His new nickname is Dr. Rossus the mad scientist, I will definitely recommend his services to close friends. Glams coming soon btw.

Under-rated saber smith that will eventually be recognized for his great work.  He works very hard as well and takes advantage of every saber building minute he has.  Doesn't procrastinate whatsoever...which can be deadly when paying for work in advance.

I got my first saber back in the hobby from him and I love it.  Since I'm local., he's walking me through doing the electronics on my first PC-U in a hilt I made.  We were supposed to do it yesterday but I couldn't find a babysitter in time.  Hoping to get up there ASAP.

DR has upgraded 4 sabers fpr me, with a 5th still requiring some extra work.  As I'm short on time, I'll have to do pics later.  First off, we were able to set up a barter for labor, and I supplied the parts for a pretty lengthy list of work-

1. MHS-based V2, originally crafted by LDM.  PC install, battery upgrade, and blinkies in the control box.  Ross adjusted the PC for me, pre-open era, and then removed it, sent it in for unlocking, then re-installed it, for the same bid price!  WOW.  He also adjusted the blinkies from under the circuit board to drill-out sided ones (for the arrow look)- a thought that I hadn't expressed in the custom order- again, no charge.   The saber is now running Madcow Hero, with a custom boot font, and is louder than before too.  Aux button, on/off slider, and blinkies all fit into a graflex clamp.  I am beyond stoked with this one

2. Shien 7 cyan stunt upgrade.  I bought this off of the namesake builder as a stunt, and Ross added, removed, unlocked, and re-installed a PC w/ shadow sister and a custom boot.  He also added a new green ring AV an a LED pommel.  It looks extra fancy with my Ace/Wat- Obi #6 pommel installed.

3. Anakin redux*2.  This was a conversion by zukuto skykiller that I had re-jedi-ed for my son.  Black texture was removed, the hilt was polished down to the copper, a blue LED installed, a glass-eye bottom and copper buttoned top were added, and new t-grips were installed.  My son's reaction was jaw-dropping stupor.

4. Black Majic #7.  This was a stunt with sound from Gemini Concepts and JGJ.  I'd wanted a super bright yellow or amber in it, and we tried a 10 watt from mouser- as it was orangey, went with a 200 lumens white w/ filters to give a solid yellow to it.  A yellow ring AV was added, and the old switch hole was made into an open view crystal chamber.  a sink tube/mhs converter was added to add on a new pommel, and the hilt gained a recharge pommel port too.  Nice balance and new personality to a well-loved saber.

5. JSS copper proto-type.  This came from JSS via e-bay, with some new elements- it is still in progress.

***
Communication has been excellent and rapid with Ducos Rossis as he's worked with me through 5 custom orders at once.  5/5

Flexibility- Ross has bent over backwards, from the PC reinstall (which he did just because he thought that was the good thing to do), to modification of building plans.  And this was brokered for a hilt for labor (which he easily exceeded with work on his end).  I really starting to get a better idea as to what I want in a custom, and might go there with a Heiland-Vintage-Vader scheme. 5/5

Time/turn-around.  There were a few set back with the builds, mainly over the PC unlocks, and figuring out a plan b for the 10 watt amber.  That, plus the fact that I'm gone for a week at a time for work, led to this project stretching out to 2 months, and for 5 sabers, it was worth the wait. 5/5

I highly recommend Ducos Rossis as a builder and collaborator.

He PM'd me with a WTB I put out on the trade federation.
I needed a 3/4 blade for my V2, and it arrived in ship shape. He even threw in a 3/4 blade plug. Sweet bonus.

I have recently made several parts for Ducos Rossis, but for some reason, failed to leave him feedback.

Among the work has been, Custom Heatsinks, replacement MR pommels, powder-coating and some general lathe/mill work.  We've traded parts for work as well as normal cash transactions.

He is easy to work with, communications are always good and payment is prompt.  Shipping of parts to me has been quick and everything has been well packaged.

I look forward to working with Ducos many more times in the future.  He is an excellent smith and IMO, it is only a matter of time before his name is mentioned right along side the well-known smiths like VV, LDM, JQ and others.

Just received some sabers back from DR for repairs- touch plate for my V2 as a side-slider had broken; he patched and weathered the hole in the control box so that it blends in great!.  He also did some lens, heat-sink, and battery work on 2 other hilts (Caine's Spice Mines of Kessel and a SF)  Quality work, and the V2 will be trick-or-treating w/ me and my son this year.

Highly recommended.

Just got my sabers from Ducos Rossis.  He did a rework on a Prophecy for me.  He installed an MR board for me and did an LED swap, and in hilt charge.  He also gave it a nice weathering job to make it look all Sithy for me.  Excellent work. (Even though by his own claim, he wasn't "happy" with the final result. Lol.)

Reponse time was great, shipping was AWESOME.  VERY well packaged.  Had a heck of a time opening it without a knife.  He even threw in a bag of acrylic crystals which was a nice surprise since I've been looking for some and had no idea he was planning to send them.

Definitely giving him a 5/5

And not only WILL I do business with him again, but I already am!

Lets start the new year off right.....
___________
___________

I contacted ducos in early spring of last year (March to be exact).. I know the project was rather daunting (but I ofcourse was helping), YET he assured me it could be done.. (it may cost me) BUT he could do it!!

Happy I paid (IN FULL on Apr.24, 2011)

...... Now... (dont let the darkside take over)... Rather then start the usual thread bashing or whatever Im going to skip to the end.. with the absolute TRUTH...

OVER 8months have past (at this point)... Ducos stopped responding or replying to my PM's about a month ago.. (Has NOT logged in to fx for almost 3wks.. INbox full... Number he gave me.. fake...)...

He has NOT sent or given me ANY pictures updates (EVER over the 8mo).

He has NOT sent me anything EVER (No refunds, No items, Nothing..)

OUT of options... this is what its come too.. (you guys know the deal)..

____________
____________

BEFORE PAYMENT!

Ducos was terrific with his initial conversation.. 5/5
Ducos was terrific in his presentation.. 5/5
Ducos was fast to reply.. 5/5
_________

AFTER PAYMENT!

..................................... 0/5 BABY!... (ok sry Im still trying to master suppressing my darkside)

_________

Disclaimer: I will allow TOTAL transparency and inspection of all my PM's regarding the matter AND I do have every PM (and I saved my replies as well). BUT lets not go there (thats childish kid stuff)

IF Ducos (OR any friend of his who can send this to him) is reading this PLEASE just contact me, Im always around.. (How can you throw away this stack of happy customers/friends/community members and people who respected you like this?)... lOOK I know.. (irl) Stuff happens, to the best of us.. AND I still want to see a positive resolution from the situation. (But for now.. and, Ross, you know it for yourself.. 8months/no pictures/no replies.. the 0/5 sticks).

(Im old) and Ive found that in life its NOT about if your going to get knocked down (it happens to everyone).. the true measure of a person is in how bad they want to stand back up.

Everyone here has had (atleast) one deal go sour... Can we both stand up, fix this and put it behind us??.. (OR does it all end here... *poof no more Ducos.. with this single post?, Really?.. Dont sit back and let that happen.. please, contact me.. and lets figure this out)

~Dave

Dave, shoot me a PM with your number for texts. I'll get you in contact with him. He has some personal issues and no Internet service. I'll help you get it squared away.

BTW - it isn't a fake number, he has a new one (you may not have)

Very Interesting  ???........ I commissioned Ducos to rework a saber and do a CFV5 install for me back in Sept. Communication was beyond excellent in the beginning ( I called him 1st at the number he gave me - it worked back in Sept) - even a bit too much for me (if there is such a thing) as I was getting texts from him constantly about an item he was going to take in trade as partial payment. Suffice to say, his communication has since dried up almost completely except for the occasional text. Yes, he has told me he has been w/o internet for over a month. I am not aware of any serious personal problems on his part, nor are they any of my business really, although I honestly wish him well.

@IndustrialAction - if you have any way to shed some light on what's going on w/ Ross, &/or any willingness to intervene, please let me know - your help would be much appreciated!

@Ducos - if you can read this - I truly hope things are OK w/ you. I turned to you for this project because of your rep, and the quality of your work. I would love to end our relationship on a positive note and I will be more than happy to edit this post further  to reflect an amicable outcome when one occurs

****POST EDITED 1/2/12****

I recently heard from Ducos - he seems a bit swamped and inundated. Rest assured everyone who has commissioned builds with him WILL get taken care of in due time. It sounds like he needs our support and understanding at this time, so everyone (including myself) just sit back and let nature take its course. I have faith he won't disappoint!!

Dear FX-Sabers.com members:  Ducos Rossis is currently having internet issues, and therefore is not able to get in touch with his customers. Please contact a council member with a status of the transaction.

We advise people to not start any new commissions or business until current builds are settled and we can determine that regular contact can be made with any customers on this site.

If anyone has any questions please contact a staff member here.

Please note, our recommendation to not conduct business through the forum is not to punish DR, but to protect the members here, and we hope that this is only a temporary measure until things get settled.  As such, this thread will be locked for a day or two until everything gets settled down.

I won't rehash the story of my saber again  (http://www.fx-sabers.com/forum/index.php?topic=34794.msg471406;topicseen#msg471406), but here is my feedback:

build aspects - DR definitely has a "mad scientist" quality to his designs. He was very creative with taking my saber to another level -  4.5/5 It's not everything he originally promised, but it's close

shipping - 3.5/5 . My saber was sent back well packaged and protected, but it took way too long and w/ no tracking info provided. He did add sig req at my repeated request (although I had to provide my mailing addie at least 4 times)

communication - Initially his communication was non-stop and beyond excellent. Unfortunately, that came to a grinding halt. I now know DR fell on some hard times, but all he had to do was communicate to his customers that there would be a significant delay w/  completion & delivery, and give them the opportunity to stay the course w/ him or opt out. Instead, he chose to simply vanish, which made for an increasingly frustrating experience culminating w/ a severe backlash on the part of myself, and several others who found themselves in similar circumstances. Long story short - EPIC FAIL!!!! 1/5

I just read on FB that Ducos Rossis, aka Ross Duca is once again defrauding and stealing from customers on FB.

Avoid Ross like the plauge.  He'll do some work, and you might even get a saber or 2 done (like I did), but then he runs with cash.

JSS copper prototype- want it back. (https://www.fx-sabers.com/forum/index.php?topic=45111.msg599548#msg599548)
