Attempting my first self machined metal core. Here's some of the progress.

Hilt designed by me, machined by TCSS. I'll update as the core comes together.

Great and clean work with the lathe! I am totally awed of people who can make such perfectly fitting parts with a lathe, can't wait to see progress!

Thanks for the encouraging words guys. I was about to scrap the whole thing a few weeks ago out of frustration. I'm now getting to know the machines  and techniques better so its becoming a lot more fun.

Here's a peek at the main body of the chassis. I think I went a little hole happy  so I am going to turn another and be a little more strategic and reserved with the cutouts. I am also going to try to do it with the rotary table so I can get cutouts around different sections of the circumference.

Nice skills, I'd love to have more skills of that nature.

Right?

Ehh I just started. You could do it too

More work on the chamber section. Tried something different from the ubiquitous brass fins. Just a proof of concept, I'll make a cleaner piece. I like it and It harkens back to an element from DCLS-002.

Nice work.

It is always nice to see custom builds, especially when machining is involved. :)
