  • Hello from France;)
    • Here is my website, based on my comic book.
Here is my real first review. I’ll try to do my best, but it will be difficult to do better than some great review downthere. Well, everything as a beginning, so my story does.

How did I get this Maul ?  Those who read my very first posts must now it, but I have the great chance to be able to make some deals with retailers in France. In fact, I make some exchange with them. Some original artworks of my comic books dealed with some FX. !In fact, it cost me excactly the same price than everybody, except that I don’t have any cash to get out of my pocket. It’s only some artwork that I couldn’t sell anymore in the future, and that will not get me any cash… But they get me…beautyfull FX !! So !!! It’s worth the deal !;)

So, the latest deal brings me the Maul double blade FX !!! I receveid it via Mail the very day of FX-Sabers.com birthday ! Isn’t that great !? What a great gift !;)

So, the first thing is the big brown box !!! It appears that it’s widder than the single blade FXs of course !.

Once openned, here comes the maul box ! MR made an update on the graphic line of the box ! There is a picture on it right now, and the Star Wars logo is silver and not gold anymore. I prefer it like that I must say.

Well, I was so excited to open this box, but for the first time I took as much time as I could to take some pics for FX-Sabers com… Oh my, those last minutes were horrible… Taking those shots  keeping my hands away from those beautiful hilts !

The packaging is really well done. Everything is placed with a real logical way from the original single boxes. For who still openned a FX box, you’re in a well knowned place.
Everything is quite the same, except that you have a second fx beside the first one. Plus the coupler of course, and an additonnal stand too.

At last, I had reveng… oups ! Sorry. I last, I put my hands on them ! The first thing I thought was : « great feeling with this metal ! Near to the feeling I had with the ani one.

I made a quick test of the blades separatly, to see if there isn’t any problems with them… I tryed to spin with the single blade, but I must say that it’s not well balanced at all… The worst FX to spin for me I think. It’s definetly not a good feeling to spin with a single blade…

The coupler took me a little time to be putted in the correct way, but once it was done, i had front of me a real piece of beauty and…weigh !;) Oh my ! This double blade is really heavy !

You have to be a strong sith to wield and spin it ! You need a real big place too ! Because the thing is huge ! I’m a tall man( 1m82) and when I make a backspin, the top of the blade touch the floor sometimes !!!

So, what do I think of it ?
The single blade is only a nice piece to me, but not well designed to fight and even less to spin.

The Maul is meant to be double !!! And this way, it’s awesome ! The real nicest hilt I’ve seen. It’s just but unique in his way !
The bad points with it is iare his Size( but it’s his quality too so…) his weight, and the fact that when you hit something, the whole thing continue to shake for a while…

In conclusion, except for some little points, I highly recommand this double Maul FX but I do recommand to test it before, if you can…

Oh ! I almost forgot to talk about the sounds.. Well, it’s vader of course, but I think that the coupler change them a little. And once double, it’s a double hum too, so, I think it’s a little different in a way.

Best.

Louis

Ps : Forgive me for my english !!! I need to improve it !;)

very nice and complete review Louis !
i'm quite amazed by the color of your mace though! i heard so much people saying they were disappointed with the look of the blade. It just seems so bright and so purple ! but it's difficult to judge from a picture.
I like your picture of the maul next to the vader, very speaking for everyone who has a vader.

Very good review, I don't have a maul but I'd figure the blade would be a little shaky when the 2 are put together.  Nice pictures too.  (especially of Darth Cat.)

Thanks a lot men! I'm really glad that your appreciate my first Review;)

I'll make some others later.

Gio: I tryed to me as honest as I could in fact! For me , reviews are here to help people making themselves a good idea of they could get. It's important before buying such an expensive collecting object.;)

In fact, The Maul is the one with the worst "bad points", but one of the greater about "good points" too!;)

GoldFish: Be carefull, with a name like yours, My Darth Cat may have some ideas;)
Pm: Yop, it's strange that so many people has problems with their Mace;) I'm really glad of mine's color!;) Even if it's the blootchiest!;)

A little up just to say that I've got my single maul battle damaged. Well, nithing more to say. It the most unbalanced FX I've got, but one of the nicest;)

I have to notice that the coupler is in the box;)

I just throw the stickers away. The way the saber is unbalanced and the color (expensive too) makes me not want it but when I read the reviews it makes it seem like the best saber

I don't know...maybe it's just me but I don't think it's that unbalanced at all. Maybe I'm just holding the saber differently during spins. I hold the Maul really high up close to the end of the emitter where the emitter hits the main shaft of the hilt and have no problems. I do like my Luke ROTJ better for spins (mostly because it is so light) but I still like the Maul better than the Anakin ROTS, Vader ESB, or Luke ESB as far as spinning goes.

Yah, for the 5 minutes that I had the two single sabers apart(ahhaha) that is how I held it and it didn't feel that awkward really.

maybe there could be some solid metal at the bottom of a saber and make only 2 AA's instead of 3

Edit: there should be 3 AA's, it brings more weight to the saber

Heimidal, I take it very close to the emitter too since the beginning, but I still feel it unbalanced...

Well, maybe if I practice it more than what I've done untill now, I'll start to feel it more comfortable too... I don't know.

Or just add the coupler on it... Is there any people who did that???

Btw, I like this FX a lot!!! Especially the hilt! One of the nicest ever made!

We're talking about the balanced of the weight within the saber. In fact, the point where you have the equilibrium of the full thing. On most of the saber, it's on top of the hilt, but on this single one, it's on the blade. so, when you hold it, you have the bad feeling that the blade seems heavier than the hilt...see.???

Gio. Yeah, I'd must do that, but the cristal bottom is really nice to me...arglllll!!
