Battery Question....
« on: February 19, 2018, 03:43:50 PM »
Hello all!

I'm making a chassis and I don't have enough space for a 18650 battery... Would a NM v4 be able to handle a parallel connection (non voltage increase, just total capacity increase) between two 14500? I know on multiple sites it does specifically say only one cell, but i'm not sure if they are referring to series versus parallel connections between cells.

Thanks!

If you can put two parallel bateries, this will keep a 3,7V and you will increase capacity.

You should not attempt this without research. You can easily end up with a "thermal event" and tears.

If your space problem is the length of a 18650 battery, maybe a 18500 would work. I am using two protected Keeppower 18500, 1700mAh, (in series) for a segmented string blade and I am satisfied with them. I think you can find 2000mAh too, and even if it's not the same as 18650, for me it was the only option to fit inside the hilt.

Just ordered an 18500, looks like it should fit!

Thanks for the suggestion!

I researched the factors of a "thermal event", do you think a protector chip would solve this?
