PCB manufacturing is such that the more you order, the cheaper it is. So instead of making a bunch of boards and selling them, I thought I would try something different. This time, I'm doing pre-orders, where you guys pay half up front and half when the boards are ready. The price will start at $55 / board, and decrease by one dollar for every five boards ordered. When the price goes down, it goes down for all the orders, not just the new orders. If we get to 100 orders, the price will be $35, and it will stay there. There will also be a $4 charge for shipping. (for international orders, I will let you know what the shipping is as soon as I get your address.)
Feb 10: No more orders
Feb 11: First half of all payments are due
Feb 12: I buy all the components needed.
Feb 20: Boards are being assembled
March 5: Second half of payments are due.
March 6: Boards are done, and I will test and ship them.
March 10: All done.
All in all, this will take about 6 weeks. It may go faster, as this timeline has some minor buffers in it.
Example: If you sign up to buy 3 boards, and on Feb 11, there are a total of 63 boards ordered, the final price will be 55 - 63/5 = $43 per board, for a total of 43 * 3 = $129 Half of that would be due on Feb 11. It's ok to pay sooner, any extra you pay will just make your second payment cheaper. The second half, plus shipping cost will be due on March 5th. If the boards are done sooner, I will announce that and start sending out boards as soon as the payments come in. If there are any delays, I will announce that too, and payments will be due at a later date.
To sign up to buy, respond to this thread and specify how many you want to buy. I will not be sending out individual payment instructions, instead just make a paypal payment for the right amount to firstname.lastname@example.org. If you use the "goods and services" option, please add 4% to cover the paypal fees. Only orders that have made their first payment by Feb 11 will be valid orders. Please make sure to include your board name and address in your payment so I know who paid and where to send the boards when they are done.
Board comes with a 90-day replacement warrenty, as long as the board looks physically ok. The damaged board has to be disconnected from other parts and returned to me.
Note that this group buy is only for the TeensySaber V3 board, you will also need a Teensy 3.2 to attach it to and make it work.
I will update this post with the current price and a list of participants as we go.
Final tally is 173 orders. Parts have been orders. Everybody listed below has at least paid a deposit on their order.
Final price is $35 dollars per board. To make the second and final payment, use this formula:
left to pay = ($35 * boards + shipping) * paypal fee multiplier - money already paid
The paypal fee multiplier is 1.0 if you use "friends and family" to transfer money.
It is 1.04 if you use "goods and services".
Shipping is $4 in the US. $14 for outside the US. (Sorry, it's the cheapest I could find.)
If you have a question about how much you should pay, or when, send me a PM.
The list below will be updated with "paid in full" labels as we go, but there is no requirement to pay anything more until the boards are finished, which should take about three weeks.
