Cross Guard CFX questions
« on: July 07, 2023, 09:38:45 AM »
Hey Erv and others,
I'm planning on building a cross guard saber and need a little guidance please. Electronics will be a CFX board and neopixels for the main and side blades. ACT and AUX momentaty of course. Also, hilt and blade side PCB's so I can remove the blades. I will also be using the awesome number 371 by Kylo Davidson on the CFX site. What a want to achieve is the cool delayed side blades ignition as it is shown.
My questions are: what soldering pads do I use for the side pixel strips and what do I need to add or change in the config files to get that effect on ignition and retraction.
    Thank you for any help!

cool project !
wire up your main blade to LS1 and the quillon to LS2. Set tridentstrip to -15 (assuming 15 pixels on the side blades in this example) to "push" them to LS2 with a negative number and this is it (I think)

Thanks Erv! I will give that a go once I get my supplies from TCSS. This will be a challenge because my hilt is 2017 Disney Parks Exclusive sold only in the parks for a couple of years way before Galaxy's Edge was even on the drawing board. Not a Savi's or Dok-Ondar's. I successfully Did Vader's and Rey/Luke/Anakin's. Gutted them all of the crappy electronics and did the pixel and CFX route. The hilts are quite nicely built and movie accurate.

Ok, an update. Build went very well.
Neopixels in the main blade, as well as in the Tridents.
Fonts installed are Son of Darkness, The Broken one, Unhinged and X Guard. All great fonts.
Delay on Tridents are perfect and really "movie" accurate. KyloDavidson's #371 blade effects are great. Just have to tweak some unstable flame crackling  via the SD card.
Hilt is very movie accurate like the other two 2017 Disney Parks Exclusive Vader and Rey/Luke/Anakin.
Below is a pic of the crappy Disney electronics. Simple board and LED blade string. Looping hum sound on a 1/4 watt speaker with random flashes on three AA's. Blade ignites/retracts in tiers. Good enough to put in a hilt for a kid like I did with the other two Disney internals that I gave as as gifts.
The other pic is TCSS parts with the CFX and chassis discs attached to the cool Kylo pommel internal seen in the windows.

hey, that's awesome and thank you for sharing the results, I'm glad you're seeing the end of this project ! what a change between "before" and after. Not even close to be a "find the 7 differences" game (or whatever the name is in english)

Thanks Erv! Turned out really nice with all the sound fonts and vocal sound bites from the four fonts.
Here's a couple of pics that don't do it justice. Nice unstable flaming.
