Fett style weathering
« on: August 07, 2015, 03:42:39 PM »
I've had this in mind for awhile, so when a customer asked for a Mando style Ascend saber with a lot of weathering... I knew it was time.

It's a 6 step process:

1. Powdercoat colours
2. Strip powdercoating in spots
3. Wear and weather edges and scratches
4. Carve battle damage
5. Flat black spray paint and a cloth with paint thinner to wipe off
6. Thinned flat black model paint touch ups
7. Flat clearcoat powdercoat

Then install all the guts. In this case it's a PC 3.5 with Tri-Cree GGW.

That looks so awesome.  I'd personally put some weathered yellow somewhere (perhaps in the body's grooves) to represent Boba's shoulder armor.  I'd also put a certain Mandalorian symbol on the lower main body...perhaps acid-etched or something... 8)

Just some potential ideas. Never know what the future may hold.  ^-^

Thought about that, but I didn't want it to be too obviously Boba Fett like. The colours are not exact anyways.

As for a run, not really possible as each saber's battle damage would be different. It's done with various dremmel tools and hand files. But I will be open to doing others similar to this when things slow down.
