In your opinion what is the best way to capture movie sounds?

There are two ways I usually do it.

First would be to record the part of the film you want with some sort of video capture device and then import the audio into an audio editing program.

Second would be some sort of audio capture software. This records everything that is "heard" by your computer's sound card. You can then edit the audio as you choose in whatever audio editing program you like.

Is there anyway to cancel out the noise around a specific sound like a blaster, lightsaber ect.

That's a little trickier. I'm pretty sure there are ways to do that but I'm not sure how. I think that's more reserved for professionals.

I could be wrong though. Hopefully someone can chime in on this.

There's only one font maker that I know of that can achieve a clean capture of any font, and bless him, I am astounded at how he does it. That would be Juansith, and he is an absolute master of his craft. He is the Goodman of fontmakers.

I try to recreate similar sounds to what I am looking for, rather than pull a straight capture. You want to put your own touch on it, you know?

Yes! Juan's movie fonts are SPOT ON! Xusia makes some darn accurate fonts too! He might be able to help as well.

All great choices! I'm an owner of two of those myself! I can attest to their awesomeness!!!

What is it exactly that you are trying to capture?
Chances are someone here may already have it.

I have the Jango blaster sounds if you want them. In fact, here you go!

Most of the individual blaster, clash, swing and hum sounds from the movies can be heard individually on YouTube. With very little effort I'm sure you could find them. Customizing them is another story.

The episode II hum you are referring to (I presume from the duel with Dooku) is actually a pretty difficult one to capture. I have tried on numerous occasions to get a clean capture with little luck, as there is always some little sound creeping in at the worst time. You could try removing the sounds from the sections of the hum and “patching” it with a different hum with a slight pitch change, but it isn’t easy getting them to match perfectly, as the Obi hum is a lighter, softer hum, and most of the hums from the films have a very pronounced “flutter.”

I was actually referring to the hum when he fought with jango. The hum is a lot like the TPM him but slightly deeper.

Try this. It's a nice smooth hum like the one's from the prequels, with a medium drone. If it isn't quite as deep as you would like, try shifting the pitch down by 3-5% or so, and add bass to taste.
