Thanks for the compliments, guys and gals.

Many of the machines are older, but they still do their job well. We only have one CNC mill so far and we're working on expanding the inventory. Personally I'd like a waterjet cutter, and more stuff to expand the sandcasting station. Right now though our main focus is on acquiring more tooling for all the existing machines. This has become a rather expensive hobby, indeed! 90% of this stuff is overkill for sabers, hahaha.

Also, for those of you who asked in PM, if/when the time comes I'll post a separate interest thread for local forumites to come and work in the shop, most likely on weekends. Before I can make any promises though, I need to work out the insurance thing and conference with the other co-owners.

Here are a couple more pics of our less commonly used machines --I've yet to use them for the saber hobby per se, except the big press (for unjamming two epoxied press fit parts on a Parks saber):

And Jasher...it will reveal itself soon...but I'll have its new owner do that ;)

Why would you brag about you're tools and resources before actually showing the pics of it? I don't get it.

Finally cleaned my shop up so I could take some pics.  The shop is a 10'x10'x10' wood storage shed that I built myself, earlier this year from a kit (with help now and then of course, on the parts that could not be lifted by one (weak) man alone).  I completely redesigned the floor frame as I needed the floor to be very solid and able to take a lot of weight.  I also redid the "loft" and put the horizontal roof beams much higher.

I work on the electronics at my computer desk, not in this shop.

The first 4 pics were taken with me holding up a camcorder's wide angle lens to my digital camera.  That's why they look blurry at the edges.  All pics are clickable.

The shop:

The lathe/mill combo (I don't use the mill part of it):

The mill:

The bandsaw:

Below is a pic of my grinder and my Uncle's scroll saw.  The grinder runs off a motor that was from either a washer or dryer.  I've had it since I was 17 or 18... which would be 1986 or '87.  Still works great though.  Of course I've had to replace the belt a few times.

I think I used the scroll saw many years ago on some wood but have not used it since I put it in my shop.  In fact right now, it does not have a blade.

The belt sander and bench grinder:

The rest:

Cool!

I have no such awesome tools... it's just me, my apartment, a Li-Ion hand drill (lol) with attachments, a small soldering station (used to be a simple iron until Don & Erv convinced me I needed a better one)... a few multi-tools, and... that's it!  I don't even have a dremel.

Still, I guess with 20 or so sabers I've built (and continue to repair after kids get finished beating them into submission)... it ain't so bad considering my "cave man toolset", hahahah

It surely doesn't take a workshop, but it helps :)

Nice setup ARKM! Most of the stuff I play around with isn't mine. I should take some pictures of the mass of equipment my father has at his house some day. Lathes, mills, grinders, you name it....I really should learn to use them all one day to make my own parts. I'll end up with it all as well one of these days hopefully not anytime soon. May as well keep them in use for a long time to come. Reminds me we were going to convert one of his into a CNC like his friend did, but haven't gotten around to it.

I'm envious of all of you with any type of such awesome tools. Although if anyone here knew me personally, you would know that is probably for the best...   ;D
