Has anyone had the idea of making blasters FX?
« on: June 13, 2006, 12:54:28 PM »
Me and my brother were talking about  the star wars blasters and the fx sabers and saying how cool it would be if they made  a blaster with an led rod  extending out of the barrel. And whenever you fired a ,short blue beam  would speed through the rod just like the star wars movies.Or just make the barrel light up with with superior speakers or something :-\ :-X.

Hyperdyne did somrthing like that.  He repainted the kenner toys to look better then upgraded the sounds with an amp and larger speaker.  To add the FX he had a strip of LED that lighted in sequence down the barrel... and at the tip a camera flash.

It was a neat thing. :)  Again I thought he was asking too much, but it was a great prop.  It's not too hard to pull off yourself.  Sequence lighting isn't too hard (a moderate electronics project) and adding an amp and speakers is just wire splicing.

What do we have in the way of blasters available? Cheap $20 Hasbro blasters that barely resemble the prop, resin kits which are hard to find and pain to build and paint, and then the MR props. These are not worth the money imo because they do nothing. Now if we had a $120 Stormtrooper blaster, Rebel blaster and a Hahn Solo blaster that were mostly metal with lights and sound,  :o :o WOW I would buy them all. Great idea!

Yeah, I converted my Hasbro blaster with barrel lights, ear piercing sounds, muzzle flash, and a recoil motor!  I upgraded about 6 blasters that my garrison uses at events.  I am hoping to make the upgrade kit available to blaster builders.

Here is a couple movies of it in action:

Hyperdyne, please make these available as a kit for blaster owners. By the way my Vader blade that we discussed is almost done. Pics to come.

Ok. New innovative idea, mine, patented. ;D

Han Solo FX.

The 8 LED groups are constantly switching to next 8 LEDs group, than next, and this very fast constant switching of 8 LED groups creates an illusion of flying blaster shot. ;D :D :)
