that is interesting. Not sure if their statment about a Jedi not being ashamed to weild it though...as it seems it would only tickle a Sith, at the most. haha

I'm just confused on what they mean by "stun"   Does it mean that when the laser is shined into the eyes it will "stun" that person by them not being able to see.

or

Does the laser have some sort of intensity that whatever it touches it causes some sort of paralyzing effect on the subject.

I don't think that it was pointed out in the article.

It would be super cool if it was the second option.

its the first option.
you have to shine it in the target's eyes for ~1/2 second and they will be blinded for a few hours.

"And since its optical system can change the laser beam from a spot to a dot to a strip of light,"....

...the target area can be a dot the size of your eye, or a 'spot' the size of your whole head.
or larger.   as it seems to be designed for "crowd control".
and I would imagine a 'strip of light' could be used to 'wash over' a large group of people at once.

"Its market is the police and the security forces, for potential uses in riot situations or anti-terrorist operations.
In theory, it should take less than a second to stun one's target, and is effective at distances of several hundred meters."

;D it looks like a lightsaber and works like the "Force Blind" from Jedi Knight: dark forces2 ;D

the picture is almost similar to any normal laser pointer you would use.  There is steam in the photo allowing you to see the laser beam.

Interesting. I wish the article was a bit more detailed in what the exact effects are on the victim. Paralysis or shock can be brought about in many different ways... I have to wonder what happens exactly. I noticed that smoke, too... what a rip. It's still pretty neat how they can do such a thing, though.

This isn't really too amazing. I mean, you could blind someone with a luxeon 3 watt or higher. I guess it's just a higher intensity. Let's just hope that once this is used, groups of blind gangs don't develop, huh?
