K3GR1: Rache - finished 2/21/10
« on: November 07, 2009, 04:21:41 PM »
My K3GR still isn't done. I got the hilt done for the contest, but there are no electronics. It will have a P4 red, 2 Li Ion 18650s, a CFV4.3, and the red latching illuminated vandal switch. Here are some build pics. LDM did the black PC work and I did everything else.

I modded mine so that the 'vents' under the emitter light up.

Two extra holes were added on the emitter, along with channels painted red.

The center band got some red accents.

I wanted a pommel recharge port. Here is my setup.

All done (ish)

I must say, this was my favorite color scheme out of all of our K3GR1s. Something so understated and clean, yet powerful and foreboding. The red accents are key elements to my eye --proof that crisp details are the mark of any excellent craftsman!

Thanks! I got inspiration for the red accents from Madcow's sith saber. I really like the effect. My CF is in the mail, so it won't be too much longer before it is done  8)

I too like the color scheme on this.  The flat black is nice!

DONE

Specs:
-K3GR1 hilt
-LDM PC work
-Red enamel accents
-Illuminated Latching Red AV Switch
-CF V4.3
-1.3mm Recharge Port in Pommel
-low battery LED mounted in pommel
-2x Li-Ion 18650s

The charge port is in the big hole in the middle. The lowbattery LED is in there as well.

Here is a shot of the lit up 'vents' on the neck section. The middle one lights up as well, just not as bright as the side two.

The aux button has a bit of a backlight to it. It is brighter than the pictures show.

Shot in the dark. The red got washed out a bit by my camera.

The saber has a bit of a used look to it which I like. Not weathered in a way that Eastern would do, but it definitely isn't a 'hero' saber.

What do ya'll think?

Great job Aluke. It's a great design to start but all the accents really help this one stand out.

That is one nice saber.  The lit up vents give it such a dark feel.  Another awesome addition to the world of sabers.

Time will bring the real end of our trial.  One day they'll be no remnants
