...an elegant weapon for a more civilized age.
« on: March 03, 2009, 09:36:00 PM »
Early this afternoon I received the message that I've waited 17 months to see in my message box:
"Graflex IV Vintage CF is ready!"

Within a couple days of joining the forums, I had spotted the Graflex forums and have been in awe ever since.

Red Five, your post on "Graflex: The Real Lightsaber" has been an inspiration.  Thank you very much!

After nearly a month of going back and forth on whether to go with the replica or the vintage, in the end... the nostalgia won me over.  Vintage it had to be.  I had found a flash on sniperbay when they were at their peek... probably paid more than I should have, but I felt it was worth it.  The flash was fairly clean, no major damage.  Light scuffs and scratches were present, which made it all that more interesting.  After all... what would Ben be pulling out of that chest?  A shiny new piece of metal, or something with a bit of history to share with his new padawan?

As you will see from the photos Master Yoda has done an outstanding (yet again) piece of work.  Not only aging the dring to appropriately match the "weathering", but notice the chassis as well  ;)

The photos I'm sharing are those that Master Yoda has sent to me.  If there are any specifics that stand out once I receive it, I'll post those as well.  This is not a review that is norm of the boards - I think we all know what Master Yoda can produce.  If you don't... spend time in these forums, and you will.  This is more of a way that I can share in my excitement.  The Force knows I won't be able to do much once the package gets here  ;D

For your viewing pleasure, I give you:
"The Graflex IV Vintage - Special Edition Crystal Core Chassis / Crystal Focus Version 4.0"
(That's a mouthful!)

Patience does pay off  ;D

Master Yoda, thank you again... VERY MUCH!

Congrats on the beauty. I just recently received my Yoda ESB and believe me, it was worth the wait and money  8)
Truly, these are as accurate and as close that you can get to the actual props used in the movie, and the fact that it has lights and accurate sounds make it even cooler. Master Yoda truly does superb work!

It's truly a thing of beauty. Definitely for "a more civilized age."   8)

17 months...wow. Well worth the wait.

I wonder if I'll have to wait that long...

Thanks for the posts guys!

Jasher, I sincerely hope you don't have to wait as long as I did.  But as Master Kenobi has reminded me a couple times... patience.  It does get rewarded!

Well... the package arrived yesterday afternoon shortly after 1pm.  Now that I'm exhausted, I can finally type  ;)

The pictures in the first post represent the saber very well.  The only thing that I feel I should mention... the "weathering" of the chassis.  The pics don't quite do it justice.  That, along with the scuffed up, nearly 70 year old metal, it truly is a masterpiece that was well worth the wait!  My compliments, yet again, to Master Yoda!  A fine meld of 21st century technology along with the 20th century casing  ;D

The real cherry on top... the CF.  This is my first CF - but definitely not my last.  For some (probably most) of you "oldtimers", you don't think much of it.  But... for the rest of the folks, if you are even considering it for your project - or even a graflex - don't think... just do it.  You will not be disappointed.

Ok... time for bed so I can get up tomorrow morning and start all over  8)

Hello there Elandorn and thank you for the compliments 8)

I'm glad you are enjoying it and the look of that galaxy from a long time ago and far, far away...
It is hard to capture the weathering against the high shine and all the various colors I get with it
when chemically treating the surfacing.

I hope it will serve your collection proudly for years to come :)

be in touch with you about you other needs I will ;)

Congrats Elandron.  You have the best of the best.  Yoda's work is not to be compared with.

The wait truly is worth it.  I had Yoda's first chassis and crystal core and I waited about 9 months.  I then had a soundboard issue and waited about a year to get a CF to replace it.  I then got the updated chassis and core that you have.  Like you I'm sure my jaw dropped.

You'll want an extra set of batteries if you don't already have them.  ;) :D

Why is it I never get tired of seeing these? They all look about the same, but there's just something unique about every one. I love mine, even if it's only "Yoda'd" on the inside!  :D Congrats, Elandron.
