Title: FX Yoda Disassembly Tutorial
Post by: Red Five on June 10, 2008, 09:31:28 PM
When taking apart a Yoda, there's one vital key...
You must drill out the pin in Step 1. If you attempt to tap it out you will ruin the motion sensor.

Step 1: Drill out the pin oppostie the black knob seen below.
A good tip is to tape the surrounding area incase you slip with the drillbit.

Step 2: Carefully pry off the plate surrounding the switch.

Step 3: Next take out the two screws holding the switchbox on.
Then unscrew the third screw and slide the "clamp" up to reveal a hidden pin. Simply tap it out.

Step 4: Unscrew the black knob. Now the electronics can be pulled out.

Step 5: Remove the metal guard to reveal a large pin. Turn the saber over and tap this out.

Step 6: All that's left is to tap out two tiny pins that hold the blade holder to the soundboard chamber.

im thinking you would almost have to put it as close to the board as possible. ill have to dig out the calipers when i got the yoda apart and see exactly how much room there is there.
or maybe do-clo could drop a trade secret ;) or two! haha

Because there isn't any, you have to have a custom blade holder. You need at least an inch for blade depth so the emitter will have to be elongated. You'll want more if you plan on heavy dueling.

i dunno ive been looking at do-clo's pic of his and it doesn't look like he has added that much to his emitter end piece for sure maybe like a half an inch if that.
it just doesnt sit as far in the hilt  is all so most of the adding is done on the bottom half

Let me fix my post up above as it doesn't read all that clearly, I didn't mean it needed to be elongated an inch. Just that you need at least and inch for blade depth.

yeah i edited mine too. haha! ;D

it think it could be very easily do able to convert it for non dueling... its too small for me to get a good grip on anyways.

Has anyone contacted Do-Clo yet to see if he will make his custom blade holder available?

I'm in the process of following this guide but before I started I was just wondering what people used to replace the pin that was drilled out?

I work in a place that's not exactly a fabrication environment but I could fabricate something nonetheless but I just wondered if anyone had something already??

Anyone have an image showing where the wires go in the battery pack? With the three screws off I need to know where the red wire connects

Good day. I am new to this forum. Can i ask whoever is an expert regarding my problem. The chorme part on the bottom of the hilt of my darth vader force fx lightsaber faded and showed the yellow plastic underneath. Is there a way to remove this part so i could repaint it? Thank you so much for any intelligent input and insights.

Good day sir!
I am new here. I want to ask help from anyone who has knowledge about my problem. My 2010 obiwan kenobi force fx lightsaber with removable blade stopped working. I guess there's corrosion inside the hilt where the battery pack meets the terminals. I want to disassemble my saber but i dont know how. Could someone shed light and give help please. I want to troubleshoot my faulty saber. Thank you so much in advance!
