Any room for Yoda FX improvement?
« on: March 19, 2007, 10:11:43 PM »
Ok, same old topic. Most of you might recognize it, cos I started one like it in the Maul FX Review section  ;D

So here we go, the first batch of Anakin ROTS were relatively more plastic than the later batches, which were heavier. The Mace AOTS became ROTS with slightly brighter leds and more purple as well...

So with this new Yoda FX, do you guys see anything that needs to be imrpoved by MR?

The new Yoda is a far higher quality and on par with the same materials used
for the Maul.

But do realise it is a lot smaller than a maul and though the Hilt and shroud are stout
and machined it is lighter and will be lighter than any other FX.

The Usual Plastics are inside and out... blade holder, center band, grips.

The nice thing about this Yoda is the addition of inner battery sleeves not on the prototype
as well as the knob on the back will make for easy disassembly ;)

I wouldn't mind having a Yoda FFX, but want one with a full length blade and Luxeon.
I'm not wearing hockey pads.

Lord Maul,

I believe Ultra has said they will be offering Yoda conversions with the full size blade.  I imagine that will mean reinforcing the emitter to handle the stress.

Might want to keep an eye on them.

What stress?! Isn't the Yoda FX adequately designed?

it is designed for the 26 or so inch blade that it comes with. when you add on another 10 inches it is a whole nother ball game ;)

I would think that having a full size blade on a yoda would be bad, because the hilt is so small and adding a full length blade like on any other FX lightsaber would only make it uneven when you spin it. I like how they way the yoda is righ now. It would be different if you cut the full size blade to the equal size of the yoda stock fx blade then I wouldn't mine.  :)

I dont think the Yoda FX is good enough for my taste. Sure, it is bright, but the length situation and same old sounds just dont make my cut.  :-\

Well, that's a start.  Maybe MR can keep shrinking the tech and by the time the QuiGon and ObiWan FX Sabers come out, they'll be closer to 1:1 size.  I hope they won't think they'll offend their LE Collectors, but it would be awesome if they can get the FXs closer to the actual size.  The Maul was still a little too thick and it looks like the Yoda is a little too thick also.  Still looks good!

Converted Larbels are just about the right size.  I think true 1:1 would be just a little smaller.   ObiWan and QuiGon sabers would be best for dueling since they have the cleanest hilts (i.e. less protrusions)
