maybe a special double belt hook that holds the shroud.  Two hooks side by side, and the skinny part of the shroud where it connect to the rest of the saber  goes between them.  It wouldn't require any mods to the saber.

I got mine today.
the final production model looks a lot like the prototype in the first post, except for the finish.
everywhere you see "glossy" black on the prototype, its all "matte" black on the final product ('flat' black).

first impressions:
the blade is a lot thinner than any other FX saber, and also a lot brighter.
next to other FX's in normal daylight, the other FX's always look washed out because of sunlight (for example),
but this one is bright green even in daylight.
its easily twice as bright as the luke ROTJ blade.  (the color is exactly the same but there's a dramatic difference in brightness).
and you can't see the individual LED's like you can with the green Luke blade. its the smoothest/brightest blade I've seen so far.
and very very lightweight.  the hilt weighs nothing (its mostly plastic).  MR should have added "dead weight" to the inside, because it feels like a toy.   :-\

blade 10/10
hilt      6/10
sounds (same as ever)  ::)

--> overall 8/10.

I guess.

Please do post pics!!!!!!!  ;D

So this FX is even brighter than the Obi-wan? :o

Wow...my Obi-Wan was even brighter than my stock Luke ROTJ that I used to have. It's hard to imagine a stock FX that's even brighter than the Obi-Wan.

2010...I certainly hope it's better than 2009 was! ::)
10/10/10~Well, so far with my Father's passing away, I'd say that this year was actually worse than 2009, even the fact that I now have a full time job (For now) isn't anywhere near enough to make up for that...so...maybe 2011 will be better? I'm not holding my breath... ::)

I tried to show relative size and brightness compared to luke ROTJ.
in the second pic, you can see that the yoda is a bit brighter even the way the camera sees light;
the yoda saturates the photo a bit more and looks 'cored' but the luke doesn't at the same exposure.
and in the last pic you can really see the difference in blade thickness.

[edit] and in the first pic, notice that little black knob: its silver/chrome on the prototype.
thats one of the differences between the prototype and production model.

I got mine today as well ;D

The DHL notice said Wednesday but it arrived this morning at my Local DHL depot which
is less than 1/4 mile from me :D
so I went Litterally down the street and around the corner and picked up my new MR Yoda Force FX.

compared to the prototype I review last month obviously the noticeable changes are the flat black
and not gloss, the black knob instead of chrome (which will be a perfect luxeon set screw ;) )

the brushed finish is the same (the picts just made it look shinier)

Basically it looks like their LE or .45 with electronics in it and a little bigger ;D

The extra brightness can be attributed to both New LEDs and the lesser amount of diffusion
it goes through using th thinner blade.
But this blade would be far less stable with their current choice of p.c. tubbing if made full FX length.
It would need to use a reinforced type.

I like it  ;D

Intresting pics and it's intresting to see the Yoda brighter than the Luke.  I wonder why they changed the black finishes and the knob from chrome silver to black.

Either way I'm still getting this saber, I think it's kick arse that they even made this saber. :)  It will be perfect for those who have young Padawans.

Edit: In a way I like the flat portion for the black parts instead of the high gloss.  I think the flat black brings out the look of the saber better.

Very good! Even though the sounds are the same, chances are I'll be getting this one because of it's insane BRIGHTNESS...

I look forward to any photograph reviews, I cannot wait!

I'm glad it's brighter, but I also think it has a lot to do with squeezing the same number of LEDs into a shorter blade - naturally it would be brighter.

But the shorter blade - i'd look silly duelling with it.  No offense to MR, obviously smaller is the nature of the Yoda saber and it does sound like it would be good for kids.

But  the same sounds mean no sale for me.  I would have bought it just for the sound chip.

When MR said they were going to start using movie accurate sounds, what the frak were they referring to??  We all pretty much want the same thing - ROTJ sounds - and the only other sabers on the horizon are re-released Luke and Vader.

Which means MORE of the same sounds.

Chances are they MIGHT use accurate sounds for the Luke and Vader ANH.  If not then they'll probably use them for whatever FX sabers they release in the future.

Just because it does not have the new sounds doesn't mean it shouldn't stop you from buying the saber.

It's all about variety. Honestly, hearing the same sounds over and over and OVER again just gets tiresome. Then the only thing that changes is the hilt design.
