CF9 won't boot - possibly fried processor?
« on: November 25, 2020, 08:50:55 PM »
All, I am installing a CF9 and it is not booting up at all. I did a test before I attempted install and the card worked fine. During install, I was working on the underside of the board (cram-fu an all that), and accidentally wired main power from the charge port directly to the main LED pads, rather than the VBAT pads. I didn't notice until after I tried powering up (with no results). I tried fixing the wiring, and had no luck. According to my bench PSU, the card is pulling 0.01A when powered right now, but there's no lights, no sound, no nuthin.

of course, without any picture of the board it's hard to debug. Powering from there would indeed inject some voltage to the MCU thu the current measuring pin and could have damaged the processor. I would wire a serial port on RICE to see if you have some activity

Well I have no idea what happened or if I did anything different, but I did as you suggested and everything seems to work as expected. I can't get it to connect to RICE at all, but the board at least works now.
