Good place to buy a quality obi-wan outfit?
« on: June 11, 2016, 06:06:44 PM »
I think I look a little like obi-wan (although more like Sir Alec Guiness than Ewan McGregor I'm afraid) so I'm thinking of getting an obi-wan outfit.  I want something that looks fairly authentic with enough quality to last a while, preferably with real boots. I've seen lots of stuff on ebay and other places, but it's difficult to estimate the quality when I can't touch or inspect it in person. So I ask you guys; do you have, or have seen in person, a good obi-wan/jedi outfit, and if so, where did it come from?

Very cool, I might do that.
Where did you find the boots?

boots are "funtasma captain 100 (brown)" -- I made the shin spats myself.

(the "base boot" is the same for both)

"upholstery vinyl" for the spats was $32/yd ; I bought 1/2 yd = $!6

--> enough for both anakin and obi-wan spats.   (so basically: the shin spats were an $8 upgrade (per pair) + labor)

Depending on your size and which version of Obi-Wan you're looking to costume as, I have a number of pieces.

Twin Roses makes a pretty accurate Obi Wan.

our own Psab Keel makes a very accurate obi-wan costume.

as far as I know, he has a 'for sale' thread on the Rebel Legion (?) -- you could send him a PM on this forum too.

as I already posted (above), I made my own.

BUT -- if I was looking for someone to make one -FOR- me...    then he would be my only choice.

hope this helps.  cheers.

I made my own :

buy fabric here:

Been a long while since I've been here, so apologies for the extremely late response but I saw this and just had to comment. This costume is fantastic! Did you use the heavy fabric or the regular on the tunic? Are they easy to work with? I've gotten samples of both and didn't seem like they would be; the heavy was more nubby than crinkly after washing and the regular frayed like crazy. Of course you only get a 2" x 2" square as a sample, so...

the regular weight fabric would be best for obi-wan.    the fabric is notoriously difficult to work with, because it wants to stretch out in all directions.   it's best to line each pattern piece with a stable fabric before you assemble the tunic
