GREENIE presents: The SEVENTH SABER
« on: April 05, 2021, 03:03:57 PM »
This one was all but done last year but a delay with parts coupled with life getting in the way has kept it on the workbench until now.
Anyway, I had a promise to keep to an old friend. When I told him years ago that I would build him a lightsaber, he left the design entirely up to me. I had an idea to attempt something different. Something that suits the guy I've known for over Twenty five years, but still (probably) unmistakably mine.
Featuring all the usual: Tri-Cree RGB. Saber Essentials 28mm bass speaker. 18650 keep power and Custom crystal chamber. This time served by the Golden Harvest v3 with more features than he'll know what to do with.
So, here it is. As always, thanks for looking.

Greenie.

Greenie, I gotta ask, what is your trick for keeping brass and copper parts uncorroded and clean like that? pretty much everything I do gets a patina just by looking at it.

Sir Raw, I use Autoglym car polish for that shiny finish. But the brass and mainly copper gets a coat of clear nail polish. It's quicker than clear coat spray and it doesn't need baking on.
And there was me thinking everyone else loves the weathered look.  :cheesy:

I like the look of brass, but I hate working with it. The way I see it, if I've got to work with that soft yellow hunk of sithspawn that grabs my power tools and clogs my files and saws, then I want it staying shiny and yellow for as long as it can, rather than just taunting me by going dull and green the moment I turn my back on it. I've tried pretty much everything my local model shop sells for clear coating brass, but the failure rate is pretty high, even on parts that don't get handled. Still, I'll give clear nail varnish a try next.
