Prajñā - MHS custom weathered green w/ CF4
« on: August 29, 2008, 03:28:33 PM »
I recently put together this MHS hilt (actually my first one) and was not too in-love. So I baked it in olive oil (ala eastern57's mongrel) and added some brass sink-tube. I like it a lot now  ;D

It has 2 li-ion 18650 cells, a CF4, and a ledengin green 5 watt LED

Link to a video (for some reason the saber looks really shiny, almost wet, in the video - in reality it looks like the pics):

Bravo Hombre! Well done ;)  I don't know what it looked like before, but it has some character now.

There's something about weathering that somehow offers up a little about the person behind the hilt as well.

I'm flattered that you took my example and glad that you made it your own  :)

That's one sick-looking weathered saber, almost ancient-looking to me  ;)

thank you all for the compliments!

agreed, it reminds me of some sort of dream I had, or maybe it was a picture from a story-book that I read as a child, of an industrial complex over a river - hard to explain...

I LOVE eastern57's Mongrel.  Your saber looks like it could give the Mongrel a run for it's money though.  Great job on your first MHS saber.
Quick question.  As a newbie, how hard was it installing and setting up the CF board?

I have a MHS, I'm considering applying this type of finish to. Great work!

For the CF4, if you feel comfortable soldering, understand the basics of the electronics involved, can work with computers, have abilities with spatial design, and most importantly, work cautiously, carefully and with patience - you will be fine

Thanks! Go for it, you won't regret it. Remember that the longer you bake it the darker it will get - this method can really produce a large range of effect.

I LOVE eastern57's Mongrel.

It is a beauty!

Thanks =)

I really can't say what I was going for, aside from something that I like. Since I've seen so many hilts, it's hard to tell where my aesthetic choices come from... Still, there is no doubt that this hilt has similarities to the Obi-Wan ROTS/ANH

Outstanding weathered saber!  :o It looks like an ancient relic a Jedi might unearth in some lost temple across the galaxy.

And green is one of my favorite saber colors!

Nicely done!  ;D
