White and Blue, wired in series?
« on: March 24, 2013, 10:19:37 PM »
As much as I'd love to experiment on my own with the LED colors, my budget does not allow for it nor do I have the equipment to aid in color mixing.  That said, I was wondering what shade of color a Tri-cree with a Cool White and Blue die wired in series would end up as.  Would it most likely be more of a light blue, or a silvery color? And does anyone one have a picture of said set-up?

Old thread, but I'm also interested in building such a blade for a Luke ANH hilt--tri-cree with blue and white dies wired together and the third white die for the FOC. Anyone have any experience with this? I want a nice sky blue blade for this Luke ANH hilt, rather than a cyan blade from e.g. a blue-green-white tri-cree.

I'm also thinking having the white and blue dies together would help the blade be brighter overall.

I'm just about to start a build with this setup, but using a PC Amber for the FoC.

I'll be sure to post back once it gets underway and I start playing with resistors for each die.

I'm hoping to get a really nice pale blue.

Thanks Jango--that's a nice looking blade. I just got a tri-cree BWW and wiring the white and blue dies together (parallel) for the main blade with the third white for FOC makes for a very nice pale sky blue color. It isn't cyan or anything--just a nice light blue.

I recently built a saber using a BBW tri-cree with all three dies wired together in parallel with a CFv8, and the blade was a very pale blue. It was different and interesting at first, but after a while it just seemed to look too washed out. I could have dialed down the white a bit, but I ended up using it for the FOC and left the two blue dies for the main blade color.

I've got my two-cree running all three dies with the white at half drive and the two blues full.

I really like the way it photographs.
