(SOLVED) Nano Biscotte Board Silent
« on: March 17, 2020, 02:22:09 PM »
(SOLVED—thanks to a keen observation, I sent in my soundboard for repairs. It should be good when it returns I imagine).

Hello smart saber people! I am new to lightsaber construction so I am curious if someone could help with something.

I bought a nano biscotte V4.1 sound board pre soldered from The Custom Saber Company and after I wired it up to test it there was no sound. I made sure to format the micro SD card before loading the sounds and I also made sure the power was off before manipulating the card. The LEDs function beautifully and I was able to adjust the configurations for those so I am thinking the SD card and it’s reader are fine. I checked the board with a voltmeter and it looks like power is not getting to the speakers. Any ideas?

Someone from another group already suggested my amp is broken. If that’s true does anyone know how to repair or replace something like that?

Looking at the forum more, I realized there is another page specifically addressing these issues. I will repost there too but I will keep an eye on this one too.

amp or speaker possibly fried. Test with another speaker.
Obviously without picture of the board it's hard to tell.

I will try to get a new speaker and see what’s going on there. Is the picture clear enough for you to get a look at the amp?

Cool! Well, I will try the new speaker route. Btw, what exactly are you looking at on the board? Honestly, this is exciting as this is a real hope giver! Thanks for the look over!

looking closer, you ripped off a capacitor on the PCB, on the audio path, just under the SD card socket. That's a 1uF capactior (0603 footprint)

Thank you for spotting that! I will work on figuring out how to fix that part. Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you again!
