1st attempt at making crystals
« on: January 30, 2014, 03:30:47 PM »
Hi all,
Had some free time at work today, and for some reason, I kept thinking about cool crystals. So here's my 1st ever attempt at some glass "crystals".

Thank you for taking the time to look.

Lovely.  :D That red would certainly look at home in a nice Sith blade.

Nice and you work with glass right? Oh we have to watch out for you! :o

I'm sure you heard of Chihuly? I've went to a couple of his shows here and enjoy his work.

There few other ways to " make" crystals. I'm on the fence natural or synthetic. It so hard to find the right one. But easy to make.

I'm trying to hunt down good transparent colors, and incorporate them into a blade plug design. Thank you for looking, and taking the time to comment.

Thank you. Very much so. Everyone here has set the bar very high. It makes me feel like I have to push myself a little harder. :))
For a 1st go, i am kinda proud of myself. Maybe after a bunch more tries I might be able to be a contributor to this remarkable art in some way.

Ooh, I like the idea of incorporating glass into blade plug design. Though polycarbonate or acrylic would have to accommodate for the main body due to blade retention screws, glass designs incorporated into blade plugs in ways besides just glass crystals would be awesome to see, if not purchase.  :D

Hi JediWizard,

Yes, I am a glass artist. In the "2nd attempt" thread there is a photo with a light behind a red one.... I will make a cobalt blue one tomorrow and post the pics.

Thank you very much for the compliment.
