Now I am definately liking the looks of the obi.  It looks so shiny ad real in these new pics. :)
That darth maul is starting to worry me however.  I do not like the looks of it when the guy is holding it in his hands.  It looks to small and skinny.  I was looking forward to a more bulky, and menacing type of hilt.  It doesn't look that realistic in my opinion.  This may change though before it is actually released.

That copper and brass looking plating on the new Obi is a HUGE improvement over the tan glittery plastic on the Luke ROTJ.  It makes the Luke look a little bit Hasbroish even.  I wish they would have done the black parts of the Obi with metal as well.  It would be way more expensive to make, but I would not have any problem paying $50.00 more for a saber with an all metal hilt.  I would even settle for metal plating over all plastic.  It just makes all of the difference in the world.  If you took the Luke ESB for example and made it out of plastic instead of metal, it would loose most of its appeal.

The one thing about the Maul that disappoints, in my opinion, is that there's no way to have the one BIG hilt with the single blade.  As you will no doubt recall in TPM, Maul ignites only one blade in his initial duel with Qui-Gon, and saves the double blade for later.  I like the look of Maul's saber with the looong hilt and one blade ignited, as it looks extremely unique and agressive.  Unless the blades are detachable, this isn't possible to replicate.  With the hilt cut in half, it loses some coolness and becomes kind of dinky looking.

With the way these are constructed currently, and if the next generation is the same as the current, it may be possible to make one blade removable.  Hopefully the blades will use the same attachment method as the ESB Vader, on which I have made my blade removable.  It stays in well, and it would probably take a really hard swing for it to fly out. ;)

I'm not quite sure why everyone thinks Master Replicas would make the Hilt out of plastic ::)
It's painted, Just like the plastic looking paint on the Luke ROTJ :D

If it was plastic then Steves comment about durability would be total B.S. :o
I don't think He would contradict Himself in public like that ;)

If you Look at my "LUKE ROTJ EXPLODED VIEW" take a peek at the pict that shows
where I put the set screw you can see the lip of the stem inside the emitter from the inside
and this is how the entire thing assembles ;)
The Emmiter screws onto the Grenade the grenade screws into the Clamp and th bottom grips
screwin to the bottom of the clamp and then the battery end cap...

I don't know where the "plastc" rumor started but come on people, no one has it in their hands
yet, and to think that Master Replicas would do something as cheap as making it out of plastic
is jumping the gun just a bit there so let's have a little faith and realize that MR is doing the best
they can to supply you with the best possible lightsbaer at an affordable price ;).

I'm sure once those who get these new models will love them just as much as the ones we
already have... ;D

Mabey AMY can help with some of this info... I'll ask Her if She can atleast tell me the hilt is metal

Meridian, I'm afraid I at least contributed to the plastic talk on another thread.  When I was talking about the high gloss plastic look of the LE ROTS Obi (even though it is aluminum).  But it really does look spot on to me, so I'd expect the same sort of durability as well, if not more-so based on what we've heard so far.

True, but that plastic look that Obi and Anakin had in ROTS always struck me as silly, especially compared with the wonderful Sidious look, quite a contrast (as far as the new designs for ROTS). Plus they could have made Anakin's exactly the same as Luke's from ANH and saved a lot of internet complaining and kept a great looking hilt quite aside form the continuity questions.  Plus how the MR Obi AFBB crushes the ROTS... but I'm getting off on a tangent.

Yes I do like the Luke ESB Hilt but its nice to have the simplicity
of the Anakin for Duelling...

Obiwan was one of two last Jedi so it stands to reason he made Himself

Actually I am worried about this as well. I've seen the LE and I think it is HUGE (or maybe I am a small person). But as long as the hilt is TRUE to the movie prop scale.. which SHOULD be much larger than an ordinary hilt... I'm satisfied.
