I'm waiting for the courage to open my MR Obi Wan ROTS.

I thought of buying the DIY kit from Ultra, but I want to make it a Lux V, and that doesn't go with the MR soundboard.
I don't mind replacing that soundboard with the Ultraboard 2.0 I've ordered besides the one that goes to Darth Tyranus for my Overlord.
The Obi ROTS is a bit dim compared to the loudness of my Anakin ROTS.
I also have to search for a bladeholder with Lux V LED that fits into the Obi ROTS.
As I'm bussy with that, I also better put in a new batterypack and use the premium speaker that completes the ultraboard very well.

I really like the hilt and love to see and holding it without the blade as an option.

But for all of this I still need more courage and search for some knowledge too.
How to open it without damaging the whole thing for example.

I believe the one you have is one of the rarest saber found today.

Yes, I also have the same curiousity to break open the saber. But because I can't see the part, I need to learn by touching it first. Perhaps only my friend Tsundere and a moderator called Threepio can help me with that.

Anyway, good luck for your trial!

This post is just so useful  8)

Makes me wanna start a new saber right now, just to see if it is indeed as easy as it sounds to put everyting together  ;D

I just wanted to saying being new to these boards and being new to the world of lightsaber creation, the OP was very informative. It definately starts the ground work for further information gathering about building a custom lightsaber. Which I think I am a bit off from doing, so for now I'll stick with buying an Ultrasaber creation. (Which I just placed an order for the other night)

welcome aboard!  (there's never enough ladies around this place!)

Remember, we like LOTS OF PICS, so when you get your saber in, feel free to post as many pictures as you'd like.

Don't be discouraged from building your own!  Or for that matter converting an mr.  It is a bit easier than you think. ::).

It sure is with posts like this. There is so much terminology that it can be overwhelming. This clarrified a number of things for me. Thanks very much!

This is awesome DT!  There are two aspects of building that I have not found explained yet.  I have my own ideas, but i want to know how the pros do it!  I'm talking about the mounting of the LED and other miscellaneous electronics.  I am sure they are not just floating in there, but how are you guys attaching them to the hilt?

Excellent. This post was a good step and just what I needed. Helped to explain things that others might think are obvious (except switches, you didn't really explain them, I'm still confused  ;D ;D ;D). What I need now is a detailed guide to all things circuitry. Volts, watts, amperes, ohms, coulombs, joules.... it's just TOO much for me, and math never was my forte.

Here's what I get so far about electricity:
1. Metal conducts it.
2. LED needs it.
3. Don't stick your tongue in the toaster.

Yup.

If you want that in depth of an understanding on electronics, you will have to do a lot of searching here, on TCSS and couple it with some independent electronics study ;)

This is Gold DT...... I've been doing a fair bit of reading over the last few weeks as i'm keen to build my first saber.

I have found heaps of reviews on different components and studied many of the tutorials on this forum IOT to put something together that I, (and hopefully others) would be really happy with.

In saying that my only issue was the electronics side of the saber. Do i require resistors if i have a driver? do i require a driver if i buy a soundboard?..... These questions have now been answered and i thank you. (and commend you for doing it with humour  ;) )

There are still a few things i need to learn when it comes to the electronics, eg' wiring diagrams and using LED switches... but im sure as i browse through the forums i will find some more info..

Cheers again..
