has a unique feature about it's Glass eye. 8)
It will be listed for sale in the Trade Federation Lightsabers section of the forum 10/24/07

Thanks for that little tutorial there Master Yoda. :) I was wondering when one would show up. ;)
-
No problem 8)

No surprise here that the first attempt succeeded by no one else but Master Yoda.

No surprise here that the first attempt succeeded by no one else but Master Yoda.
Actually it's funny because this is my second MR Luke ANH conversion.
The first one was a few weeks ago and I literally converted mine only two days before Ultra did his
and it was funny because I called him just as he was pulling his apart and needless to say... both
our personal ANH's that served as the first test units are now "cosmetically challenged" :D
But we do what we must and it's worth it because as you can see the one I have for sale came out
beautifully and is just as new looking as it was when it came out of the box about 24 hours ago :)

Well all I can say is... congratulations for the surgery well done. :D

;)
That's why you're the master and we are the padawans :D :D

I am wondering something here.
It appears they have made a few changes to the bladeholder. If you notice, the three raised ribs seem to be one of the contributing factors to the "creaky blade" syndrome that this saber seems to have.
What if the entire bladeholder were to be replaced with a machined aluminum sleeve with the correct mounting holes machined and threaded, and a set of notches milled into it for the sound module casing to mate up properly? A slot could be machined in so simulate the faux bulb retention clamp.
Then a set of machined button surrounds might even be a nice modification. :)
It might cost a little to do this, and would add some weight to the hilt itself, but it would provide a mre solid feel to the saber. ;)
I see that a MAJOR change has been made to the graflex styled clamp to allow for electronics as well....
Just a few thoughts.... :-\

Yoda,
Now that you have seen the Luke ANH from the inside out, will you share with us your opinion on the quality of the product versus the rest of the FX line? We're ready to hear the master's evaluation!
-
This is a horse that has been beaten to death in other threads :D but all in all I'd have simply done things a bit different
and still saved money.
It represents a cost saving measure that I don't think people who are in to collection wanted to see.
Most who will continue to support future Star Wars Collecting wanted a higher quality product than it turned out to be
in the end and have thus been disappointed by it.
But in contrast MR was trying to work under constraints that are to long and drawn out to go over but they did
the best they could for the money allotted for it.
it's no Graflex ;)
-
True enough, I was just brainstorming aloud via fingertips... :D
I do that sometimes. Perhaps too much eh" ;)

Since the hilt has a thinner wall thickness than the Anakin ROTS, the TCSS conversion diameter is too small. Also the Luke ports are more forward than the Anakin so the drilled holes do not match up. Tim does not plan on making a conversion kit at this time. Since the MR FX line is no more he is hesitant to make additional conversions. The Luke would be an all new one. I am removing my Anakin conversion and modifying it for my Luke. I have had it apart for over a week but I have been tied up at work. With both sabers apart maybe this will be the motivation I need to complete. I am going to use aluminum tape to increase the diameter, move the blade holder forward so the ports match up, and redrill holes for the button/eye. Maybe if there is enough interest Tim will make some just for this saber.
Thanks!
Greg

OK, Master Yoda or anyone else, I'm all thumbs here. I can only get the scews out. I tried to pull those pins out and it's like pulling the teeth out of a live, hungry Croc! :D
Any pointers? ;)
OK, got those out, but that bottom circular surround piece is some words I can't type here. I put a gash in my pool table..... >:(
-
OK, I just took this thing apart. (Gonna up grade this one ;); got my second one coming in this week)
What a MONKEY'S UNCLE! I had an easier time with the ESB. Man, I'm a CHIMP! :P Any word on how to intsall a 3w blue in here?
-
First, no more working on your pool table Tarkin :D
Second you'll need to make a sleeve to hold it in place up in the holder so it butts against
the bottom of where the blade will stop.
Using a TCSS heat sink like this:

You'll be able to fit this either with a reflective lens or Luxeon lens ;)
-
O.K. I have had my ANH for a couple days now. I....I..... need to take this......apart! So, quick question, I assume the red button itself the "hemisphere" are glued into thier respective holders? They must be pryed out to reveal the screws underneath?
-
Like the Ani ROTS ?
-
I fixed the creaky thingie ... really easy with 2 strips of electrical tape (stretched and not overlapped ) and I think 4 bits cut from a doctor scholls basic shoe insert lol... I know theres a thread concerning this , but I cant seem to find it t the moment .. and I think I saw a " how to photo your sabers thingie but cant find that either at the moment but soon I will have the pics posted WOOOT!
-
well i dont think i wanna take m new saber apart just yet i only got it yesterday it was a gift from my loveing wife ;D
but i would love to put a white lux 3 in it
-
Actually, This saber is VERY nice once you get it apart.
The Button mounting rings are actually metal! A nice touch!
The Creaky blade? well there is an easy explanation for it...
Most MR sabers (Luke ROTJ and Mace Windu Excluded) have TWO blade retention pins running completely through the blade holder. The Luke ANH only has one.
I did notice that there are a couple of pieces of foam attached to the blade holder, so without those in there, that thing must creak even WORSE than before! ::)
Another thing that I noticed when taking this saber apart, is that the clamp lever COULD be utilized for an AUXILIARY switch activator with a small amount of modification.
When you turn over the side bar with the lever attched to it, you will see a small post that is holing it firmly in place. If one were to dremel that post out, the Lever WILL swing! ;)
This leaves a nice little mounting hole for a low profile tactile switch... I don't think much more needs to be said here, other than: A CF WOULD WORK NICELY IN THIS HILT! 8)
Add a custom blade holder to this shell and you have the beginnings of a VERY awesome CF conversion, with a little tweaking...
There is a ton of room inside this saber once all of the MR guts have been removed. *Hint Hint Hint* (You reading me here Ben Kenobi? ;D )
-
:D :D
oh all of you will be surprise this year what I'm going to have in mine lol :D :DOh DT I have a parks graflix coming to me lol :D :D
-
NICE!
Well you'll have this wonderful empty Luke ANH hilt that I just broke down for you as well... ;)
-
I have a LUKE ANH converted to Luxeon by Ultra that i would like to change the Luxeon color in.
Does anyone know how hot do i have to heat the blade holder for the glue to be removed, without melting down the whole thing ? ;D
Second question is, is there someone (TCSS ?) that makes custom blade holder that would fit in if i ever want to replace the plastic thing
-
He's in his grove again, nice work. :-*
-
I did a tri-rebel upgrade to this one a few months ago. With a new 1" blade and cellophane.
-
I'm having trouble getting the blade holder to slide off.
I removed the pin and I don't see any thing else I can unscrew or punch out.
