Here are the specifics so far.

...I powder coated the blade and ribbed section with 20% gloss black (satin black would best describe it)
...I powder caoted the crystal chamber gloss red in just a small area behind the cutout
...I powder coated the brass shroud with solar rain
...I polished the entire hilt to a chrome like finish.
...Amptrooper did the design and cutout of the shroud for me

My camera and lighting (and photography skills) were horrible tonight but I will get some pics later on outside with better lighting after I start putting the electronics in.

The pics dont show it but solar rain over brass is actually a pretty cool color. It has different affects at different angles...neat stuff.

I will be putting a Luke ANH board in with a blue P4. I have a quarts crystal (or crystals depending on how my final design will be) for the chamber. It will not be real fancy since you wont see much but will use copper tubing with the crystal. I will probably start on the electronics tomorrow.

here are the pics so far...

I will update the thread as I go along.

:o :o :o That overlay is so cool! That slot right in between the two overlay parts blends perfectly! And that beautifully cut Jedi symbol is perfect! Great work MH and Amp!

Great looking saber. I really like that satin black PC. It's a good balance between flat and solar wet black. I wish it was available on TCSS.

thanks everyone. I appreciate the comments. Unfortunately I have to shelve it for a little while. I have a truck I am repairing and painting and I have to try and finish it by next weekend so its going to take up all my time. I will post in here when I get to start doing the stuff I enjoy doing instead of body work and paint (which I used to enjoy but got burned out...but I need the extra money right now).

I guess if I dont finish it by next weekend I can at least bring the empty hilt to the MS get together and show everyone the saber in person.

sorry for the double post...

I have to update this since I finally got back to working on it.

I finally decided on a way to do the crystal chamber.  I had several designs but just couldn't make up my mind on how I wanted to mount everything.

I was digging through some of my old work stuff and found a couple of twin-ax end repair kits and when I saw them I knew they would work great.  The holes in the center are the perfect size to mount a 5mm LED with a regular LED mount.

I ground grooves in them and the pommel pieces I am using for a mount so the JBWeld would have something to bite into.  I think it will hold just fine.  The mounts are the same thing but one is turned with the nub poking out and one in.

it might not look it but its a very stable design.  The two smaller posts are held together with screws but the larger ones for the wire pass through is epoxied together so it will have strength but also have the ends open to run the wires through.

anyway here are some poor pics for now and a very poor video with horrible lighting (I really need a better camera...one day I guess).

pics are click-able

What's you use for the LED mount?

Looks great!
What's you use for the LED mount?

I had plastic LED mounts (just a plastic sleeve the LED slides into) that fit into the holes of the twin-ax repair pieces.
