Remaining designs for .45 saber replicas?
« on: May 18, 2006, 10:41:01 AM »
Qui-Gon's saber will be released later this year.  As far as I can tell, that leaves only Mace's TPM saber as the only other unique saber (ugly as it was) used by a major character.  However, upon watching a clip of the TPM Maul/Qui-Gon/Kenobi saber duel (I just received my Maul FX and it's a monster to try to maneuver in its double blade form, so I'd figured I'd rewatch the duel to see what Parks did), I noticed that Maul kicked Obi-Wan's lightsaber down the shaft.  And now I wonder if Obi-Wan ever retrieved that one, or if he built a new, identical one.  If he built a new one, technically, his TPM one could also be released as a .45 replica.

So the possible remaining replicas are ...
Mace TPM
Mace RotS (if there are any differences to the AotC one)
Yoda AotC (maybe in a better condition than the RotS one)
Obi-Wan TPM
Vader RotJ (was this identical to his ESB one?)

On another note, are any of the scaled replica collectors collecting the blasters?  I was staying away from them, since they're not quite as memorable of a weapon as the lightsabers.  However, if they release Chewbacca's bowcaster, I probably would reconsider that stance for that replica.

I could see MR releasing different versions of sabrs.  Like the dark chrome and stuff.  They will keep making stuff like that i bet.  With the addition of the tv series i bet MR is just waiting to strike a deal with Lucas to make some replicas.

Thanks to Darth Nerdold for the sig!

The Vader ROTJ saber was different from the ESB one ;) And so was the TPM Obi-Wan

Obi-wan did build a new lightsaber after he lost his after fighting Darth Maul.
There are subtle differences in TPM one. Such as, holes in the pommel cubes and a purple hemisphere in the bronze knob.

I would like to see:

TPM Obi-Wan Kenobi
TPM Mace Windu
TPM Mace Windu (Visual Dictionary - similar to battle damaged maul)
TPM Ki-Adi Mundi
TPM Adi Gallia
ANH Luke Skywalker (Visual Dictionary Reveal)
ROTJ Luke Skywalker (V2)

They still have few to go, and then they'll probably be making Jedi sabers. Most of the Jedi shared a lightsaber design between each other, so it'd make sense if they only made the ones that look different enough from each other. Personally I'd love to see an Aayla Secura mini, as well as an LE or SE. And an FX, too. So long that it's the AOTC design.
Hasbro Signature Series
Luke Skywalker ANH with Removable Blade
Obi-Wan Kenobi ROTS with Removable Blade
Darth Maul TPM with Removable Blade
Kit Fisto AOTC with Removable Blade
Luke Skywalker ROTJ

MR has said in the past that council sabers are unlikely as LEs, but has not outright dismissed the idea of SRs.  If anything they could be used as a trial run to check the popularity for potential CEs.
