The Story:
It all started when i had 4 FX's. I thought 2 was enough when i was 12, but now at 13, i think differently. I just got home from a party when my dad called me into the living room. He said that they were selling SW merchandise on TV. I only had $30 at the time so i watched them battle it out with the FX's. Then came the sign "89.90." on the screen. My dad said it was fine if i got one because i mow our yard a lot. I ordered the obi and they said i wasnt supposed to get it until Oct. 9th. I was unsure, but agreed. It was basically a mix of the ani and luke so i wasnt in a hurry. It was Sept. 19th and my dad got home from work. He said "come here". I walked out to my kitchen and there was my Obi leaning against the wall. I said thanks and got a knife and 3 AA batteries. I dont know what happened
and i dont care. ;D
The Hilt:
The obi hilt is very nice. It seems to be all metal. The "grenade" part as Anakin calls it is very cold. It sent chills down my spine when i first touched it. The "fat neck" doesnt really seem to bother me much, but it is the only flaw besides chunkiness. The detail is superb. The obi still has the 3 AA battery pack, whcih means its considered generation 3. The emitter shroud does give a nice effect in the holes when lit. It is about the weight of the Vader ESB. It is evenly weighted, which makes it the BEST FX for spinning.
The on/off switch is the gold bar on the control box. My switch turns on and off very easily. With the slightest poke, you can see the mighty blue blade. You puch it up to turn it on, and down to shut it off.
The blade:
The blade is my favorite part. It has about a 2x brighter output than the ani. The blue is also closely resembled to the Luke ESB(i dont have one but i must concur). There is very little splothciness and the dark spot is really noticable on mine. :-\. The tip is slightly more pointed than my others, reflecting a ROTS look. The tip is better lit than my others, by means of evenly lit space. You cant see the pointiness of the blade in my pics rather than other ones because the blade is so xxx bright! I must say this is my 2nd favorite blade next to my Mace. It doesnt have the thicker blade is some of you are wondering. Although, Irkis Clags obi has survived some VERY hard dueling for a LONG time. It still works. But the blade is scuffed to xxx.
The Obi compared to Ani ROTS.
The sounds:
The sounds are another great feature. They are not the loudest sounds, but they are the crispest. They come out very clear. They are a tad bit higher than the ani. They are my favorite Jedi saber sounds. The clash sounds can be easily played on mine. The on/off effects are cool and perfectly timed with the light effects.
The Vid:
(its a little choppy in the begining)
Final thoughts: The obi is my favorite lightsaber. It is the best for beginners. MR has done a beautiful job. P.S. I love unscrewing and screwing the end cap on and off. Its really fun. :D
Hilt: 8/10
