Good news! :D
Here is the update I just got from his mom!

"Surgery took 10 hours....the rod was hard to get out and he had a lot of scar tissue.  Dr. Ertl wanted to make sure he got as much as possible so it wouldn't hurt after.  He was pretty sick from all the anesthesia, but he should be better tomorrow although he's going to hurt for awhile.  He's got the rod...titanium...and I'm sure he's going to want to make something out of it.  Thanks again for all your thoughts and prayers. When I left at 9:30 he was pretty out of it and I think tomorrow he's not going to be feeling so great.  Anyway, I'm glad he's got such great friends."

Sounds like he will be up in no time! Stay strong Amp! ;)
