K3GR1 FidelisOccasionally I have someone say something to the effect,"I have this huge pile of money, what can you make me?" I love those. Not the big pile of money part as much as 100% creative freedom. Unleash me and I can make some cool stuff. My dirrection in this case, was that the client wanted me to make him what I thought was awesome. He did want some inscriptions on the hilt and a red blade. I will not translate the Mando'a milled into the grip, but suffice to say that it has to do with the client's Military service and is quite inspirational. For the custom grip section, I enlisted the help of the World Famous Acerocket and boy did that brotha come through. It is a stunning piece around which I built the saber. My expressed goal was to make the best K3GRa that I ever have laid my hands on. Everyone knows my view on the subjectivity of art, so opinions would vary no matter what I pulled off, but I gave it my shot. Diatium Power Core? Check. Quartz Crystal Chamber? Heck no, go big or go home...DOUBLE Quartz chamber with EFx-style detail and braided aluminum sleeving for the wires. Milled windows into the chamber and a "Caged Crystal" as a novel concept. Not even one part of the original K3GR1 saber is untouched. It has windows and shine-through venting everywhere including backlit switches and machined brass piston-arm greeblies and wire channels. The Diatium Power core contains a nice 3-LED bargraph and brass mesh inlaid "vent". It also has a knurled black band and PC'd copper detail. The weathering is a textured gloss variation of my Tactical black weathering and it is EPIC. I also made an alternate "shorty" grip section similar to the one on Oxidium, just in case he wants to change things up occasionally. That way he has 3 full display modes (engraved grip and pommel on, shorty grip on, Diatium Power Core exposed). Well, I could talk about this one all night, but I think I will just go ahead and post it now.
