Master Replicas LOTR EL Sting Swords
« on: December 06, 2007, 10:28:52 AM »
I just purchased a couple of Master Replica Lord of the Rings Sting EL swords for my boys Xmas.

Anyone else have one of these? Just curious if it's upgradeable to blue luxeon...

I know they use a whole sheet of EL paper....so probably not.

I got'em both for $15 each so I don't think it was a bad purchase.

What are the blades on those made from Del?

They are etched PolyC, with EL paper stuck inside them.

Good buy! Where from?

www.5stardeal.com via eBay...

http://stores.ebay.com/SWORDS-BILLIARDS-CASINO-Merchandise

They wanted $29.99 each plus shipping but I offered $15 each with combined shipping. Total was $50.55

Other places want almost $100 for them. If your interested in these, now is the time to get them while the place is trying to get rid of them. Says they have 130 left..

I got mine from ebay for $10 last summer, new in the box. They are very cool! The blade is fairly sturdy but it does wiggle a bit as it is just plastic. It is covered in a two-way mirrored finish. When off it has a real nice metal look. When switched on in "Orc mode" the blue EL shines thru. The "clanking sounds" are a little cheesy but cool none the less. It's not super bright but is easily seen in regular room light. The handle is diecast metal and has a ver nice and realistic wood grain and scrolling painted on. I think they are a great buy for $50 or less. They originaly sold for $120 when first introduced!

Great! My boys are into swords and I thought this would be good for them and they cannot slice each other open with them.

These are pretty cool.  My brother in law would love it for his birthday.  After a quick ebay search I turned up many results and some very cheap.

They use CR123 batteries. On the battery side it's not cheap, but it seems to last a long time. The display stand can be used to hang on a wall or as a desk top display wich I thought was pretty cool. As with any FX sword it is not meant for dueling, light sword play is O.K. I would not recomend it for anything heavier. If your boys understand this then they should last a long time. I may get another to tinker with. ;)

CR123 batteries are dirt cheap on eBay. I bought an Energizer eSquared Lithium 15 pack for $14 shipped..

The review seems to be gone but here is a link.

There was a real nice review but the pics are still there. It's nice to see it other than the standard ebay picture. Again, this is a very nice replica and worth the money. I still enjoy mine and it shares wall space with my lightsabers.
