Hello!
Well, like I said it in the following thread, I'm going to make my own Light saber.

I'm gonna use the very complete kit from "Plecter Labs":

http://irvin.plecter.free.fr/

take a look to the video, it's great!
http://irvin.plecter.free.fr/Media/DemoSabrePlecterLabs.avi (20MB)

Well, so, everything begin with a rough, to know what I want my Lightsaber Looks like:

I want it wlose to the anakin/luke design, but more personnal in the same time.

Here is the electronic parts( sounds, leds, driver, and so on), The basic tube for the Hilt and several tiny parts that I will use after.

So, I'm gonna make a "work in progress" as soon as I'll begin my work on it!

(Not before 10 days, I'll not have the time to work on it since that moment).

It's going to be a great adventure! For me I mean! ha ha ha

Looks good so far, Louis.
Be sure to keep us updated. I, for one will be interested to see how it develops.
I am planning to try do my own luxeon upgrade to an FX at some point, so any tips or hints you could give would be appreciated.
Oh, and good luck! ;)

Hey Timmy-Wan Kenobi! Here I go again!
Well, I've started the making off my lightsaber yesterday!
Here are some little pics to show you where I am right now.
Well, in fact, the principal part is from a vaccum tube. And the bottom is from a part of "tap". I made the top design with a "dremel" tool. I draw it before on a sheet of paper, and putted it on the top of the hilt.

In fact, the whole design will be close to the luke esb. I guess that this is the most common standard base for lightsaber( even grievious has one, taken from a different jedi than anakin, so....).

But, there will have some difference too. Well, see ya for the next step.

(Bottom isn't include in the full kit, but you find it easily. And plus, you just have to plug it in!)

The top designed and cutted with the "dremel" tool:

The bottom:

With the sheet of paper as guide, before cutting the metal:

Assembled:

Hi Louis.
Looks good so far.
You will be a Jedi yet.
I like the way you have shaped the top part.
Will be interested to see the design develop.
What colour blade are you planning on? Jedi or Sith?

Good luck and
May the Force be with you.

Thanks again!
Well, to little more pics, and it's over for today!

I cutted and glued those plastic parts ( available on the plecter labs website).

Soon the finished Hilt, and the beginning of the blade. Then, the final assembling with the electronic kit of plecter labs.;)

I just can't wait to ignate my own light saber! I made myself a promise: do not test the electronic parts before the full light saber will be finished!!! It's more thrilling and exciting!;) And I also put my patience to the test, like a good padawan! ha ha ha

Ps: If someone want a pic of the "dremel" tool, let me know;)

It looks really great, Louis. :o

Do you intend to add any details to the hilt?

I really like the minimal look you have got so far, and of course the less bits you add, the less to get in the way for twirling and duelling. :)

But it would also be nice to personalise your saber with some buttons and controls. ;)

I look forward to the installation of the electronics.

Well, in fact, here is the link to the website of Dremel, it's better than any of my pics!;)

http://www.dremel.com/

Timmy-Wan: The hilt isn't finished yet! It was enough for yesterday, that's all!;) ha ha ha. Well, like my saber will be fully duallable, and as I pratcice a little with the ani FX, I'mgoing to put the others detail at te proper places. I don't want ant discomfort;) But there will certainly have some extra details on my hilt;)

Does this mean that you are going to imitate the style of the ani FX?
I have always liked Graflex style hilt designs, really classic.
I do find that the details on my ani get in the way a bit, but I have got used to it with a little practise.
Those Dremels look great, I have been meaning to get myself one for ages. So useful for so many things. Like a battery powered swiss army knife.

Indeed, the XPR (top of the line one) can do xxx near anything.  Router, jig saw, mini-circular saw, etc...

That's right! This multi tool is amazing!

Here is the one I have:

Timmy-Wan:

In fact, my lightsaber, will be closer to the luke esb in fact, but with enough difference to make it mine, more personnal I mean. Like it's my first one, I want to make my graflex-like personnalised Lightsaber.

You'll tell me what you think at the end of it!;)
