Lego saber run interest thread (design renders added)
« on: February 18, 2013, 04:17:34 PM »
OK, since so many people have asked recently, I am going to go ahead and start an interest thread.  I already had plans in the works for another run to be announced in a month or two, but I will postpone announcing that run and do the Lego saber run instead.  The AwesomeSauce run will be starting next month after I wrap up the Rebellion Jacen Solo run and I typically will overlap runs to make sure all my machines are working as much as possible.  For example, if I wrap up turning work on a particular run and I move it to the mill for second operation work, then why not run something else on the lathe while I am running the first job on the mill?

To refresh people's memories:

(size comparison with Graflex)

As before, the saber comes in at just about 7.5" long, 2.814" at the largest diameter and has a 1.5" diameter colored acrylic blade.  The difference between the previous run attempt and this one - I will redesign the internals to make use of the Nano Biscotti and/or Crystal Shard soundboards and single Li-ion cell battery.

I do not have any prices or details yet.  I have to dig intot he old files and rebuild the models to add the soundboard and speaker setup.  But to get a rough estimate, an empty, no install hilt would probably still be in the $175-200 range I think.  Install costs would obviously add to that cost.

Once I complete the redesign, I will post new renders of the models, prices and details of the proposed run.  If I get enough confirmed interest posted to this thread, I will move forward withthe run and open up a deposit thread.

Again, no deposits are do right now.  All I need is you to post if you are interested so I can begin to create the interest list.

Will a 1" adapter be made available for this as mentioned in the other thread? I did not see it mentioned here.

Most likely.  But as I have not gotten into redesigning the saber yet, I don't know exactly what it will be or how it will work just yet.  That will be in the details of the run.

Interested and ready to make a deposit whenever. Be that in a few weeks or a few months.
