Orbital Machining's Obi-Wan TPM Number 16 -My Amateur Review-
« on: February 23, 2012, 12:03:13 PM »
Alright so today I was awoken from my slumber by someone banging on my door.
Being grumpy, I got to the door only to find the Postman standing there with a box and a tube in his hands!
Guess who was no longer grumpy at that point?
ok so here is the sight I got!

an unassuming brown box.  But as we all know, its what's inside that counts.
so a peak:

Can't wait any longer GET IT OPEN!

isn't it beautiful?  The case Wat picked out for these is just awesome.  I don't think anyone expected anything quite like this.

ok so now let's pull the hilt out.  It is light.  I was surprised.  It looks like it should be heavier... probably because it looks better than the MR TMP EE i have, and that is heavy!
Side by side with the MR...

should I ask you if you can tell which is which?
some major differences to note:
The aluminum body is actually thinner, and that is not a bad thing.  It feels better in my hand that way.
The grooves in the black anodized part are wider, actually looks more authentic.
The Pommel cubes are bigger, fits the look of the saber better.
The LEDs around the neck of the emitter actually look the way they should, not like white pieces of glass.
The Hemi looks better as well.
The actual emitter, well pictures speak for themselves... scroll down!
The Finish.  It is not a mirrored finish, which is nicer than the MR version.

now some shots of the blade itself.

here it is under light with no flash from my camera...

no lights in the room, curtains drawn, and no flash.

Lights back on... curtains open, and my flash on my camera...

This thing is bright...
It is also loud.  even without the other pommel cap with the drilled sound holes... THANKS FOR THAT BONUS TOO, WAT!
If your hand covers the ribbed section, the sound may be muffled, but if you are going to be swinging it around to show it off, putting on the other pommel cap should not detract from the saber at all.

This is my third LED saber (not counting my MRFX sabers)  I had one MHS based one... one "custom" saber that was a modified version of a stock saber from a smith...
And this just completely blows them both away, not to mention the MR EE I have now, that needs to find a new home.

I'd have to rate this saber 10/10 with a bonus point for coolness.

Thanks for reading!

After this past year of loving this saber...
I now am pretty sure I have to get rid of it.

I'm still debating, so no for sale post yet.

I do love it.
