Custom Yoda...a bit different than most
« on: December 12, 2010, 09:42:27 PM »
I was looking through my stuff the other day and realized I had a couple of empty MR yoda hilts.  I like the little suckers and play with my son's Yoda all the time.  I decided I would throw one together but make it a little different.  I was stuck on a build and getting frustrated so sometimes its good to take a break and build something a little easier.

I built this to be a play saber.  Meaning I wanted it to be comfortable.

I replaced the switch box with a custom one and replaced the piece below the box for a thinner tube.  I also replaced the piece on the back that sticks out (assuming it is the piece that connects it to Yoda's belt) with a regular button head screw (with shine through hole).  I really like how the saber came together and its really comfortable and fun to swing around.

Specs:

PC 1.4
Novastar's Yoda font
single 18650 Li Ion battery
in hilt recharge
premium speaker
P4 green overdriven to 1.2A
Green ring AV switch
TCSS Yoda conversion kit
ring below switch and conversion kit powder coated texture flat black

That center section is no longer clunky/chunky like the MR.  I like the flair with the pommel too.  the light through that former plastic knob is a definite improvement as well.  If my son's looked like that, I'd probably use it too.

Great job MH, I have an extra mr yoda that I was going to do something different with also. I had a similar idea with an av switch and recharge port but hadn't thought of replacing the band. Anyways, yours turned out great.

Very nice as always... I might have to add this to my wish list.

Did you have a chance to listen to Novastar's Yoda font with Yoda grunting and groaning on flashes and clashes... I think it is cool... you should try it on this saber.  ;D

Wow dude great job!  :o

Thats the best looking yoda ive ever seen, how much would it cost to buy if you sold it?  ???

The activation box and new pommel are so freakin sweet together with the saber, did you pick up yodas saber when he dropped it fighting palpatine then mod it yourself  ;)

Thanks.  I made a couple of changes.  I drilled through the front small screw like I did the back one.  I also took the button apart and took the resistor out of it so the LED ring would be brighter.
