Introducing... the Lightfoil
« on: August 31, 2013, 06:09:48 PM »
I picked up this beauty from DarthAlice at the IRA a month or two ago. It's a gorgeous saber. Here are the specs, from the sales thread:

Specs: Main body created from a German fencing Epee'.
Main Hilt 1.25" Hex molded and shaped to fit the hand, machined to hold 14650 battery, sound board and speaker, Pommel is of the same material.
Emmitter: 1.25 hex billet drilled to accommodate a 7/8" blade. This is one of my 2 piece designs, the main Led holder, brass heat-sink and emmiter are all in 2 parts.
Control box; aluminum billet with built in recharge port, silent touch red momentary switch. ( 1 of the retention screws for the box also holds the pommel on, this has very easy access to the sd card.)
Finish:Polished to chrome finished with Jolly-Pop Copper powder-coat.
Speaker: 20MM Vector, full base 2 watt 8ohm.(Very loud with a nice resonance chamber)
Main Led, Luxeon Bin 4 (I believe) Amber overdriven to 1400ma

Sound Board: Nano-Biscotte V1 with the font Korriban and Sidious boot quote
Battery; Tenergy 3.7 Volt 1600Ma with recharge port.

It handles ridiculously well, and it's LOUD. It's a gorgeous amber colour. Here is the video...

The Lightfoil

Forgive the kinda bad video, I don't have a good camera ATM and I had to record with my laptop webcam LOL. I'll probably reshoot it sometime, but here it is!

I have admired Darth Alice's work for a while- I've seen E-57's rapier, and Katana saber, yet I don't know of any other light-epi (I could be wrong).  The color on that is superb.

Speaking of E-57's rapier....

(that's the Rapier II, which I used to have)

It really is a great saber, I can't think of ANY saber like this out there. It truly is a unique piece- I know that DA is working on a "stunt" model that differs in appearance to this saber, but shares some of the details.

It's possible to do regular lightsaber spins with this saber- just gotta get used to positioning and technique. It's ridiculously light, and really, really well balanced.

Very nice!

I was debating on whether or not to buy this when DA put this up for sale a while back.  It truly is a unique hilt/saber!

Very nice saber, and very unique. It looks like the only one you don't have is my fencing saber:

I do like the unique-ness of that foil.

Gorgeous hilt, Iggy.  Really nice.

I've been considering putting electronics in a foil for a long time.  This is about what it would look like - cool stuff!
