My girl friend is almost finished making my costume. I saw the finished part of it today and it really looks good. I will try and post some pictures this Saturday before the party I’m going to. I have never worn a star wars costume before, I’m starting to feel like a nerd already  ;).

Your Girlfriend is making a costume for you!!! that's great.  So what is it going to be...

Oh and I want to say something for everyone who has a problem wearing stuff ::)

What you obviously haven't had is a serious near death experience!
Well take it from me...
Some time things happen and make you think about all the things you never did or got to do...
Having the chance to have the Lightsaber duels I've had with my Son!
I've taught Him how to Sword fight since He was 7 and in the Tutorial picts Here...
He is 14 and believe me when I tell you He is not only a capable Swordsman but has great
showman ship with His abilities.

And now I'm teaching my Wife how to swordfight, since we are using Lightsabers ;) they
are safer and look better than metal swords :D

I'm glad Lucas did what He did and I support it. Lightsabers are the Ultimate Defensive Weapon!

I feel sorry for those who don't like Star Wars, they must have very limited imaginations...

Ohy vie! I'll get all you Star Wars Fans out form Hiding yet ;D

always

Looks like my Vader costume should be here tomorrow or Friday, depending on UPS.  We are having a Halloween party saturday night so I will be taking pics of the Full costume that day and will post them as soon as I can.  Its a shame that I won't have time to get the costume looking the way I want it to.  Oh well, gives me a project to complete over the next couple of months.
When I'm not wearing the costume I plan on displaying it via a homemade mannequin thanks to darth blade's site

Yes Bandit-Jedi, it will look very cool.  I call mine my "Anakin mannequin" :D  The mannequin in mine is 6'4" so the total height is about 6'6" after the helmet... So its very imposing.  I'm sure after you get it done you'll just sit and admire it for hours.  I know I did! ;D
Don't forget to get a fan from Radio Shack for your helmet! ;)

MICK
Please forgive me for using your Dog Vader as my avatar.  I couldn't help it, nothing is better than looking at that picture every time I log in.  I will of course remove the pic if you want me to...please god don't make me do that.

Tracking shows the costume as "out for delivery" !!!!

So hopefully it will be sitting near my door when I get home from work today!!!  YES!!  I can't wait!

UPS has been better about shipping than DHL.  I'm waiting on a package through DHL that came from Texas...and its just now taken 2 weeks to get here!  That package has been listed as "With the courier" for the past 3 days.  Maybe I'll get that today too.  Its my new 5.3mp camera!

update:  Got home and found a "missed delivery" notice on my door.  Apparently the package requires a signature in person, so Im staying home from work tomorrow to make sure I get it!

It's too close to Halloween by now but SpeedyStiches on ebay does great
Jedi and Sith Robes as well as Jedi outfits.

You may want to do a search of the internet at this point in time and simply call around
to see who has anything in stock?

Hey Bandit! are you gonna display that Vader On a Manequinn with a Lightsaber in Hand ;) ;D
If you do be sure and post picts.

That is exactly what I was thinking about 2 days ago.  The way the $40 mannequin is constructed with the flexible fingers I could possibly do that.  I think it would definitely add to the display.

I did get the costume late last night from UPS.  I went to the delivery center and picked it up around 8pm.  Once I got home I took pics of everthing as I opened up the box and took things out.  I will post the pics later as I don't have access to them right now.  I was surprised with the Helmet...it is VERY Large as others have said.  The finish on it is not that bad.  Not on the Dome part of the helmet anyway.  I polished it up real nice.  Used some Novus #2 and then put a coat of Zaino Bros. Z-1/Z-2  Came out nice and shiny! Only problem with the helmet is the neck flare.  The Leg armor came also with a nice gloss to them, but there were some scuffs that I wanted to try to polish out.   So I tried the Novus #2 on it and it actually made the glossiness a bit cloudy.  Its okay cause I planned on repainting them later anyway.  The Belt boxes are nicely done and light-up very brightly. the same with the Chestbox.  The 3 "coin-slot" lights blink rather quickly in a random sequence for a nice effect.  The chest box is placed rather low on the undersuit so I will probably relocate that, as well.  The Shoulder armor could be done better, the hinges used for the shoulder bells are rather bulky and intrusive so i will probably just replace them with a strap or some thing else to keep the shoulder bells lined up correctly.

Overall I am quite pleased with the costume...its awesome.  I haven't been able to put the entire costume on myself.  It is definitely a two person task.  So hopefully tonight or tomorrow morning I can get my g/f to help me suit up and get some good pics with my FFX sabers.

Sweet :D we can't wait to see it on...

Now do us all a favor and get some menacing pictures.
Get some in low light with the Vader Saber turned on so we have a red glow
against it and perhaps at sunset with the natural lighting from a sunset will
really add to the effect ;D

If you go and look at my picts in the tutorials on duelling with your fx lightsaber
in the Articles you will see what I mean...
If you use a digital camera and are outside at sunset then the surrounding light will
light the costume and your Vader should come out looking like mine did in the picts ;)
But the timing is key, try some early on and later on while the sun is setting.
You'll only have an hour or so of good lighting so have the computer on and download
the picts as you go along (digitals only hold as many hi-res picts)

it will look as real as it gets with out manipulating the photos...

always
