Fenderbender Strikes Again! Dark Knight!
« on: November 21, 2008, 10:12:57 PM »
Here is my latest MHS based saber. This is my wifes design and her Template Fu (she does all my templates, cause I suck at them) and my Dremel Fu on some brass that has been enameled in flat black. More lathing madness on the MHS pieces. Details:

MHS pieces modified by yours truly

Brass sink tube, cut and enameled with industrial flat black

Seoul P4 Green driven by a Vader board with gold mini bullet quick disconnects

Recharge port, counter sunk to fit oh so nice.

TCSS Speaker/battery pack combo

Black Anodized Covertec wheel

1" thickwalled blade externally sanded 6ft of wrap

Hope you guys like it!

I do like it. If Batman used a lightsaber, this is what it would look like.

I have an idea for a possible improvement on the design.
Move the point on the emitter section to the choke piece. That way you can change the MLS unit easily.

Yeah, I though about doing that but didnt want to drill into threads. It still only takes 2 minutes to take out the top 2 screws and remove the emiter to access the LED.

Batman....Hmm.....didnt think of that ;D

I see. I think it would be possible to make slight indent into the choke area, not breaching the threads. then using a shortened screw with JB weld to hold it in place.

Great looking saber man!  I like the shrouding and it does look Batman-like.  I had to look again after reading Jango's post.  What is the length of that whole thing?  I want to make a MHS saber too and mine came to 13.2 inches on saberbuilder.  I need enough room for LED/heatsink, guarded mom switch, Ultrasound 2.0, battery pack, and speaker.  Is mine long enough or do I need to add another extension?  You could call this the "Dark Knight" if you don't already have a name picked out.

This one came to about 12 1/2 inches not including the shroud point. Im working on a saber now with an ultraboard and all that and it will be around 10 1/2 to 11 inches, so no, you shouldnt need more extensions. Just plan everything out well and space shouln't be a problem.

My wife does the templates on paper with rulers and, get this, MATH :o Which is something I still dont grasp fully. It just gets drawn on the paper template which is taped on the sink tube.
