where did you get the Black Aluminum Polish? I have been looking for weeks. Is there a place that sells it online?

It's called "Birchwood Casey Aluminum Black."
Available at any gun store. I got mine from an online Canadian supplier.

Take care with using it - it's a toxic chemical. And the effect can wear off somewhat.

The same chemical is sold under many different manufacturers as well here in the U.S. and abroad.

More commonly known as "Gun Blue"

I wanted to ask this in public also:  How deep is the blade socket in the emitter, and Where is the LED mounted in your saber?

Good question - I put alot of thought into that. I decided to build the top half of the saber onto an aluminum tube that is 3/4" ID and 7/8" OD (like Parks). This tube inserts into an aluminum plug which also holds the LED and lense setup. This plug inserts about 1 1/2" into the ribed grip section. All the parts are held in place by hidden set scews, so it feels like one solid peice in your hand, and can handle a pounding.
So the LED is  inside about rib #4 from the emitter end. I might post some inisde pics later.

I've got one more for you, if you don't mind that is.. Did you use sink tube for the center section between the ribbed section and pommel? I'm only asking because I am constructing mine from TCSS parts and I figured using sing tube would be more cost effective, plus the Graflex clamp would fit better. Yours looks more like aluminum to me but I figured I would inquire. Also, how did you fit the MR pommel (assuming that indeed IS an MR pommel.)? I guess that's two questions.. Who's counting?? :D

Hey Vex,
There is no sink tube - my ribbed section is all one peice - extending down into the pommel. I machined it to seat inside the pommel, and drilled through both so I could secure it with a set screw.
I would think that the graflex clamp should fit nicely over a TCSS extension peice. The graflex clamp has 4 tabs facing in - I didn't cut them off - instead I used my dremmel with a cutoff wheel to make slots in my aluminum tube - so the clamp fits on more securely - doesn't slide around.

Whats the run time of it? I ask since you have CF, a speaker, and batteries all crammed into the bottom half of the hilt....

Ready and waiting for any new pictures...

First a Qui-Gon, and now a Luke V2.

You are making all those cool sabers, and then keeping them to yourself. Not fair :P
I want one, but I could never build something like that.

Very nice saber, tho...  Very nice.

I have not let it run for hours to find out... I turn it on for 1-5 minits at a time - several times a day - this way the charge lasts for at least a week. I'd guess at a couple hours total.

I'm running the Green Rebel LED at 1000 mA, and my battery is a 4.8 volt 2700 mAh NIMH

It all barely fits - it took some meticulous planning before I built it.

Great work Madcow.  This saber rocks!  I think your V2 has  the perfect compromise between "screen accurate looks" and "practicality for holding a blade". The best V2 i've seen.
